As the day wound down I was able to collect my thoughts after the busiest weekend of the year.
I've always said that I believed we were building something truly special when we started Fighters United MMA. What I didn't know was how special that something was.
This weekend gave me a glimpse into the great potential I see in all of you, as well as an opportunity to see you reap the rewards of your hard work. Whether you won or lost know that you made us proud. I saw people given plenty of opportunities to quit and yet continue every time. Through the cuts and bruises you guys fought like dogs and you made your team proud. I hope you are proud as proud of yourselves as we are of you no matter the result.
The kids absolutely killed it this weekend! It's not easy for children to be brave, but each child took their wins and losses in stride, and I can't wait to see them grow into great athletes and good people.
Our team goal for this weekend was to end up with more gold medals than silver, and for the first time in our dojo's history we did just that! Thank you all for your great performances
We also took 4th overall! That's an incredible accomplishment for a relatively small solo gym, we only missed out on other associations with multiple gyms and dozens of competitors. We've never been ranked so high before.
Thank you to all the parents and friend who supported our athletes during their preparation and during match day, I hope we made you all proud
Special recognition needs to be given to coaches Brit and Pat White, who were not only founding members of the gym but took time out of their busy schedule to help corner all day. The gym would not exist without them
Another special thank you to coach Beck who was the world's greatest support staff, filling in the gaps whenever there was a crack in the system.
We will never achieve perfection but we will also never stop trying. We are building something special and I hope you all can feel it. We will be with each other through the high times, we will be with each other through the low times, both on and off the mat. We are invested in each other's happiness.
