If you've ever admired all of the pressed flower jewelry items, or the hand painted or stamped tea towels and bags in our gift shop, make a plan to stop by Prairy tomorrow (Thursday) evening! Jill Zerger will be demonstrating her pressed flower process from 5 to 8 pm!

Its a peak time of year for caterpillars! 🐛 Many species of caterpillars have been spotted on our grounds, from Datana moths to black swallowtails to silver spotted skippers. This is your annual reminder that chewed, torn, or tented leaves are often a GOOD sign, not a cause for panic. Plants are part of the food chain and have evolved to be eaten — no chemical treatment needed, simply water them well to help recovery and enjoy the sight of these beautiful creatures as they pupate and transform with the help of their host plants 🦋

Let's give a huge shout out to Lorna Harder, our resident expert on the "A Day with the Birds" exhibit, for taking the time to be interviewed on Good Morning KAKELand this morning! Lorna has been with this exhibit since it was a fledgling idea back in 2023 and together with the exhibits team Kauffman Museum, nurtured it from vision to reality!

Our first program is "Meet the Beak!" this Thursday, August 8 at 10 am for kids ages 7 to 12, then "Birdsong in the Morning" this Saturday, bright and early at 7:30 am!
