We are pleased to announce Mrs. Rebecca Murray as our new Youth Development Coordinator, bringing a deeply experienced local professional into this vital Central Office position. Mrs. Murray transitions into this new role with a 20-year career spanning school administration, emergency medical services, and juvenile legal framework. For the past seven years, she has served as a School Secretary at Perquimans County High School, where she built trusted relationships with families, de-escalated complex situations, and directly supported student attendance and discipline initiatives. Her commitment to public safety is further demonstrated by her service as an EMT-B with Perquimans County Emergency Management, proving her ability to lead and care for others during critical, high-stress incidents. Her professional background aligns perfectly with the legal and community responsibilities of her new role, which includes overseeing the Teen Court, Restitution, and Social Thinking Options (STOP) programs.
Prior to working for Perquimans County schools, Mrs. Murray previously spent nearly six years working alongside the Perquimans County Attorney and Social Services Legal Counsel, gaining extensive hands-on experience preparing cases, attending court hearings, and navigating legal proceedings. This deep knowledge of the juvenile justice system, combined with her strong ties to local families, makes her uniquely equipped to serve as the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) Secretary and act as a critical bridge between school settings, families, and court counselors. Please join Perquimans County Schools in welcoming Mrs. Murray to the Central Office team as she steps into this crucial role to champion the success and safety of our community's youth!
