This week in STEM, students explored ramps and motion through hands-on learning! Using LEGO bricks, they designed and built their own ramps, then put them to the test in an exciting marble race to see whose design would travel the farthest. The competition was full of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork — and the students absolutely loved this STEM challenge! 🚀

Our December Hour of STEM was a hit! This morning, students throughout the school learned how rockets are launched and then created their own straw rockets. We wrapped up with a fun, friendly competition to see whose rocket could go the farthest! 🚀✨

Today was an exciting day in STEM!
Our 4th grade students became paleontologists as they explored fossils through hands-on activities, and Mrs. Carrie Byrum took them on an incredible dinosaur adventure using virtual reality! 🦖🦕
Meanwhile, our 5th graders had the opportunity to learn about future careers and the amazing CTE programs offered right here in Perquimans County Schools, thanks to Mrs. Jessica Duncan. 💡
It was a day full of exploration, discovery, and inspiration for our young scientists and innovators!

Our STEM classes are having blast this week coding with Dash robots! 🚀 They worked together to program their robots to navigate challenging mazes, using teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity every step of the way. It was amazing to see their collaboration and excitement as they celebrated each success! 🤖✨

🔌✨ STEM in action! Our 4th graders had a fantastic “Lunch and Learn” with Mr. Ken Winslow from Albemarle Electric Membership Corporation! He joined us in the cafeteria to share his knowledge about electricity, sparking lots of great questions and curiosity.

Students created amazing projects to show what they learned about electricity in STEM — and a few even had the chance to present their work directly to Mr. Winslow! Huge thanks to our special guest for bringing real-world science into our school! 💡⚡

🧠Our 5th grade students have been diving into the digestive system in both Science and Health/PE! To bring their learning to life, they used coding skills in PE to program Dash robots to travel through the steps of the digestive process! 🦷➡️🤖➡️💩

Our fourth graders had an awesome time last week when our STEM classes visited Manzers Nursery! 🌱🌿 We learned all about plants – from how they grow to the science behind it all. 🌼💡 It was a fun and hands-on experience that brought our classroom lessons to life! Big thanks to Manzers for showing us the wonders of the green world! 🌸👩‍🔬

🌱✨ Our 3rd graders had an amazing time today learning about the importance of agriculture with the NC State Extension! After the lesson, they got to create their own living necklaces—a fun and hands-on way to explore how plants grow! 🌿💚

Science meets sweetness! 💘 In our STEM classes this week, we are mixing chemistry with candy hearts by experimenting with vinegar, baking soda, and water. 💥🔬 Students made fascinating observations as we uncovered the reactions behind these Valentine’s Day treats!
