For anyone who is wanting to start collecting donations, here is a flyer. We do have a climate controlled storage unit we can keep items in if needed. Also here is the link for the Venmo account:

Just a quick reminder that Senior Sunrise is tomorrow morning starting at 6am!

Those of you wanting to get there early to help set up, I would say 5:15-5:30 would be great.

I have shirts at the High School ready for pick-up today, but those remaining shirts will need to be handed out tomorrow morning.

Also, just a reminder that this event is for the Class of 2027 Seniors ONLY. I received a call at the school from a parent saying their student was invited to attend tomorrow because they were told each Senior “could bring one guest”.

We are still working on getting together enough donations for door prizes, so any additional donations are GREATLY APPRECIATED! (Remember - anything extra will just be held on to for the actual Project Graduation event.)

Updated: Ok, so seeing all the comments of what we are bringing, anyone have any other suggestions of what else is needed?!

We are just a week out from Senior Sunrise!!! We need to see where we are with everything for the big day so if you can comment what you have or going to have to bring so we can see what we still need that would be great!

Senior Sunrise 🌅 Meeting Recap ~

When: Thursday, August 6th @ 6am

Where: Herrin City Park Pavilion

What: Breakfast and Prizes for the First Day of Senior Year 🥹

Breakfast will be pancakes, sausage, fruit, milk and juice. Nicole M is contacting the Herrin Fire Department about preparing the pancakes and sausage. Tabby S will arrange for pick-up that morning.

Donations:

Pancake Mix - Jennifer F
Sausage - Emily R (Hurst Masonic Lodge)
Fruit - Jennifer M is bringing bananas. Anyone else is welcome to donate.
Milk/Juice - Gretchen F (Prairie Farms)
Syrup/Butter - we can either contact McDonald’s or also ask Prairie Farms.
Plates/Cups/Utensils - Jene S.

We will also be handing out tickets to each student in attendance. Everyone will receive a door prize/raffle prize. These are all donation provided, so we are asking parents to either purchase gift cards (in the past, we have received packs of $5 or $10 cards that have worked well), reach out to local businesses for coupons/gift cards/gas cards/door prizes/etc, or donate whatever items you think our Seniors would like to win.

Remember - keep things small and simple. This is just a kick-off and the bigger items will come at the actual Project Graduation event. (Anything that we have left over from Senior Sunrise will be held onto for that as well.)

Each Senior will be receiving a Senior Sunrise t-shirt. The design has been submitted to RHouse and we have a deadline of 7/29 to submit our final order. The Google Doc for sizes has been sent out and a reminder was posted to get that filled out ASAP. We are asking for donations to cover the cost of the shirts and the Venmo was posted.

We will be taking a group pic that morning and everyone will have their shirt to wear. Fun backdrops and different props will most likely be set up along with music.

Any donations (financial or otherwise) can also be brought to Ms. Gross in the office at the HS.

If you do contact a local business or secure donations, please comment on this thread so we do not unintentionally approach the same establishments.

For those of you who were able to attend last night, thank you… For those that were unable, but have already begun the rewarding work of making this a memorable year for our Seniors, thank you…

This is an inclusive group and we want everyone to feel welcome to contribute. Ask questions, make suggestions, share ideas.

Please remind your Senior - or your classmates for those of you Seniors who are following this page - to fill out the Google Doc that was sent by Mrs. Shelton for Senior Sunrise t-shirts!

We want to get as many accurate sizes as possible!

Also, we are accepting payments and donations via our Venmo page or in person at the HS.
