I am thrilled to join the Juniper Elementary community! My name is John Scovill, and I have been appointed as an assistant principal, where I will be working with Ms. Moench and Mr. Yates. This year marks my 24th year in education and my seventh year serving as an assistant principal within the Jordan School District. Throughout my career, I have served as a principal and taught various grade levels, including 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th. Additionally, I have held roles as a learning coach and Title 1 Coordinator, with teaching experience spanning across Arizona, Texas, and Utah in cities like Provo and St. George.

Originally from Iowa, I earned degrees from the University of Northern Iowa and Southern Utah University. My wife is also a teacher here in the Jordan School District. We have three children: a son who is a recent high school graduate and two daughters who are both entering middle school.

I am eager to begin building strong relationships with the staff, teachers, students, and families at Juniper Elementary!

Hello everyone, my name is Tish Buroker and I am the mayor of Riverton. Riverton has always been a community filled with patriotism and community spirit. This year is especially important because America is celebrating its 250th birthday. 250 years ago, the Declaration of Independence was signed, declaring America’s independence from Great Britain. I hope you have had a chance to drive past City Hall to see the large banners hanging from the building. As we celebrate this exciting milestone, we want you to join in the fun; that’s why we’ve created the America 250 “Passport to Freedom” booklet. Inside your passport, you will find eight fun city events and activities, including a coloring contest, a patriotic concert, a chalk art festival, a 1.776-mile run, and more. Each time you attend one of these events, you’ll earn a stamp in your passport. If you attend at least six of the eight events, you’ll receive a special limited-edition America 250 medal to celebrate your achievement. If you complete all eight events, you will be entered into a special prize drawing. Today, you will receive your passport from your teacher, and you can see what the medal looks like in the main office. Let the birthday celebration begin!

We have an AMAZING PTA!!! They have been taking such good care of our teachers and staff this week for teacher appreciation. But truly, they have been taking such good care of us all year long! 💙💙💙
