🧬🍓 Science in action!

Our junior high Life Science students got hands on experience with DNA today by extracting it from strawberries! Students used detergent to break down the cell membranes and alcohol to precipitate the DNA, making this microscopic molecule visible to the naked eye.
It was a fun, messy, and memorable way to connect what we learn in class to real scientific processes! 🔬✨

💧🔬 Water, Water Everywhere! 🔬💧
Our biology class got hands-on today with a Properties of Water Lab! Students explored the amazing properties of water, including cohesion, adhesion, and surface tension.
We tested our observations in several ways:
🪙 How many drops of H₂O can fit on a coin?
🪡 Can a needle stay floating on the surface of water?
🥤 How much can we make the water bulge over the edge of a cup by adding coins one at a time?
📇 Can a notecard adhere to the water when a cup is tipped upside down?
It was a fun way to see how the microscopic properties of water create very real—and sometimes surprising—effects! 💦🧪
