يكشف هذا الكتاب عن التحوّل اللافت الذي شهده الدرس العقدي في السياق العربي؛ إذ دخل مرحلةً جديدةً من التطور بعد قرون من الاستقرار. فلم يعد الجدل حبيس إشكاليات الإلهيات اليونانية القديمة، بل انفتح على مواجهة المؤثرات الغربية التي أفرزها عصر النهضة الأوروبية وما تبعه من أفكار مسّت مساحات الإيمان بعمق. يرصد الكتاب هذا التحول بعينٍ تحليلية دقيقة، موضحاً كيف استُخدمت حجج جديدة، وأُقحمت قضايا لم تكن يوماً ضمن دائرة الإشكال العقدي المتداول، ليقدّم للقارئ قراءةً معاصرةً لحركة الفكر العقدي وتحولاته في مواجهة التحديات الحديثة.
يضع هذا الكتاب مسألة الألوهية في صدارة المشهد الفكري، متخذاً من جدلية الإيمان والإلحاد نموذجاً معبّراً عن ملامح الطور الجديد في التفكير العقدي. ويغوص في أعماق التحولات العلمية والعقلية التي أعادت تشكيل الأسئلة الكبرى حول الوجود، كاشفاً كيف أثّرت هذه المتغيرات في بنية الإيمان ومساراته المعاصرة.
يأخذك هذا الكتاب في رحلةٍ عميقةٍ إلى عقول أبرز الشخصيات الإصلاحية المختارة بعناية، مستعرضاً إسهاماتها الفكرية في قضية الوجود الإلهي؛ إذ يكشف جذور الأخطاء التي قادت إلى إنكار وجود الله، ويعرض أدلة الإثبات، كما يناقش المذاهب والنظريات والمناهج الحديثة التي تُستعمل في إنكار الألوهية، مقدّماً معالجات علمية رصينة لها. ويختتم بطرحٍ متوازن لآثار الإيمان والإلحاد ونتائجهما، كما تجلّت في رؤى شخصيات الدراسة.
