Build it up, build it higher, up, up, up into the sky . . . from towers to parking garages, we had fun being engineers and architects this week at Summer @ BEECC.

Water, water everywhere, we're gonna get wet . . . and maybe a little muddy too! To beat the heat we've been exploring all things wet and wonderful, including creating our very own "river" and making some mud. It's not too late to join in the fun! Limited spaces are still available in our next session.

We finished up our week with some science . . . making slime and watching baking soda turn into bubbles was good, messy fun! Who doesn't love to get messy?

We've been "going buggy" this week at Summer @ BEECC . . . we read about bugs, searched for bugs in the sensory table and even sculpted our own bugs. Want to come on a bug hunt with us?

Happy Tu B’Shevat! Also known as the birthday of the trees, Tu B’Shevat is all about celebrating trees and the environment. We celebrated by planting parsley this morning. Our friends will take care of their seeds and watch their growth… all the way up to Passover where they can take their plants home to use on their Passover seder plates!

Shabbat is here, Shabbat is here, we're so glad that Shabbat is here!

Shabbat is one of our favorite days of the week at BEECC, from celebrating in each classroom (with challah of course!) to singing and dancing at Shabbat Sing, we love the joy and specialness of Shabbat.

Our Pre-K students got to enjoy a special Shabbat surprise today - Rabbi Warner showed them the Torahs in the ark (there were a LOT of them!), then brought out a a REAL Torah. What fun it was to see the Hebrew words, the yad (it's a little hand!) and see the beautiful torah covers!

Now that we've settled into our classrooms, we're busy experimenting with different materials . . . paint and shaving cream were a big hit this week. We like to get "messy" here at BEECC!

What a busy week we've had at BEECC! From exploring our classrooms and settling into new routines to celebrating our first Shabbat together as a school it's been a week filled with fun. Shabbat Shalom, we can't wait to see what next week brings!

It was a great first day at BEECC! We're excited to share a year filled with exploring, experimenting and learning with you.

We are seeking creative and passionate Early Childhood Educators to join our educational team at our Reggio-Inspired synagogue preschool in Herndon, VA. Our preschool program serves children ages two through five in a vibrant learning environment. Our play-based program is built on an emergent curriculum and supports the social-emotional learning needed to be successful learner and human being. We value children, their families and our talented staff, who make BEECC a joyful place to learn and grow.

Join the preschool team at Beth Emeth Early Childhood Center (BEECC)! We are seeking creative, dynamic individuals to join the afternoon care team at our Reggio-Inspired synagogue preschool in Herndon, VA. Qualified candidates should love working with children and have experience with preschool aged children, be committed to working collaboratively as part of a team, have strong communication skills and enthusiasm for the educational process.

Position to begin in September. Hours could be from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

It's a bittersweet week here at BEECC. The end of the school year is here and our Dalet students are preparing to celebrate the completion of their preschool years. As they move on to new adventures and new accomplishments, we know they'll take the many experiences and discoveries we shared together with them. Their time with us was precious and we have loved every moment of it.

The cicadas are coming to Northern Virginia! While we're still waiting for our first cicada sighting and the anticipated "singing" to fill the air, we've been discovering other bugs outside here at BEECC . . . grubs, ants and spiders have all captured our attention during the past few weeks. Have you been on a bug hunt lately? Get out there and see what fascinating creepy crawlies you can discover!

We are big fans of outdoor learning here at BEECC and have spent many happy hours digging, splashing and exploring outside. One thing the children do nearly every day is "mix" up something in the playhouse kitchen . . . taking a little sand, throwing in some mulch and adding a little water to create magical concoctions. This type of creative play encourages experimenting, measuring, and observing (math and science) as well as pouring and scooping (fine motor skills) and it's FUN!

Today is Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day -- or as we tell the children, Israel's 73rd birthday. In Israel they celebrate with fireworks, barbeques and concerts . . . we celebrated by learning more about Israel, decorating flags and having a parade. How will you celebrate?

At BEECC, we're all about nurturing curiosity and encouraging exploration whether it's outside discovering the changes that come with the new season or inside experimenting with colors, shapes and materials. Spring has definitely sprung! The changes we saw beginning to happen around us before spring break have exploded in a burst of sights, sounds and colors. What better invitation to get out and explore?

We remember the bitterness so we might cherish the sweetness . . . wishing you a Passover that's rich with tradition and filled with many blessings.

We've been busy preparing for Passover . . . learning about the Seder plate and what the items on it symbolize, growing parsley and creating our own Elijah's cups. How are you getting ready for Passover?
