Eid Mubarak to all who observe! Eid al-Adha, or the “Feast of Sacrifice,” is the second of two main holidays celebrated in Islam. Muslims believe that Eid al-Adha signifies the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim, known as Abraham in Christianity and Judaism, to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as ordered by Allah. It focuses on sacrifice, the pilgrimage to Mecca and giving to those less fortunate.

A HUGE thank you to our amazing PTA for making the 8th-grade Hawk Picnic unforgettable! The collaboration on this event was incredible! Our Hawks had an afternoon filled with delicious Chick-fil-A, yummy snacks & treats, and epic yard games!

Bittersweet tears & happy cheers as we sent off our amazing Classes of 2028 & 2029 for summer! What a beautiful, fun, & tearful send-off! We know our future Hornets will keep soaring! ✨ Here's to an incredible year ahead with the Class of '29! GO HAWKS!

Fire-breathing fun! Principal Vereb celebrated Dranesville's Dragons as they soared to 7th grade with Principal Gadley. Tears flowed during a heartwarming reading of "Be You!" Dranesville will miss these Dragons!

Principal Vereb loved spending special time with these Dragons (soon to be Hawks) on the last day of school!

Giant leaps for Armstrong Eagles! On Monday, Principal Vereb had the pleasure of celebrating the class of 2030 as they blasted off to 7th grade w/ Principal Quinn. Students were excited (and maybe a tearful goodbye!). Armstrong's a launchpad for future success!

Soaring high! Celebrated Hutchison Elementary's Eagles as they took flight to 7th grade! Students were excited & emotional, saying goodbye to teachers & Principal Aiello. Hutchison is a nest they won't soon forget!

Principal Vereb and her soon-to-be kindergartener, Graham, enjoyed spending time with the Eagles!

Thrilled to celebrate Clearview Elementary's class of 2030 on Tuesday evening as they surfed into 7th grade! The Yellow Jackets were emotional, saying goodbye to teachers & Principal Almquist. Clearview's a special place!

It was a great evening celebrating Aldrin Elementary's promoting class of 2030! Students were excited and emotional as they said goodbye to teachers and Principal Wolfe. I loved the atmosphere—Aldrin is a truly special place!

✨Spirit Week was a BLAST!

Last week was all about celebrating school spirit and creativity, and our students and faculty did NOT disappoint! We saw some amazing ideas for nothing but a backpack day and overall enthusiasm.

A special shoutout to Mr. Hymel for truly channeling his inner middle schooler on "Dress like a Student!" We almost couldn't tell him apart from the other Hawks!

✨We GLOW with gratitude! ✨

The PTA and SCA threw a lovely Glow Dance last Friday, and it was RADIANT! A huge shoutout to Mrs. Novelo (SCA Sponsor and Finance Tech), Mrs Reyes, Ms. Lovelace, Mrs. Sangine, and Ms. Langer for making it shine! ✨

We're also incredibly grateful to the amazing parent chaperones who came out to help, our dedicated faculty chaperones, and our superstar school admin team - Principal Vereb, Dr. Bordenkecher, Mrs. Simpkins-Church, and Mrs. Shott!

It was a night filled with glowing fun, and we can't wait for the next one!

To ensure all students have access to meals throughout the day, we will provide free breakfast, a second breakfast at the end of first and second periods, and lunch from the cafeteria.

We are excited to announce our upcoming Open House and Back to School Night!

🌟Open House: Thursday, August 15th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
🌟Back to School Night: Thursday, September 5th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

⭕Open House: this is an informal event prior to the start of school for students and families to tour the building, meet and greet teachers, collect general information about classes and programs, meet new friends in class, drop off school supplies, and have opportunities to sign up for clubs, sign-up for the PTA, and other activities.

⭕Back-to-School Night: Back-to-School Night (BTSN) provides a structured opportunity for parents and guardians to meet with teachers and learn important detailed information about academic outcomes for each subject, curriculum changes, expectations for the school year, student support, communication methods for parents, and more. It is an occasion to establish rapport, build trust, and create a positive working relationship with our faculty and staff.

We installed a bluebird house in the courtyard near the library this week! We hope a pair will move in in June and raise a family. We researched how to install the house, facing East with an open meadow. In this habitat, there are plenty of insects to dine on, too.

Big thanks to our thoughtful Regional Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Tyson, for the delicious breakfast treat to honor our talented orchestra students after their stellar performance at Gatehouse! Your support means the world to us! 🎻

✨Huge shoutout to the Herndon Middle School performing arts Hawks who CRUSHED their performances at Elizabethtown College on Friday! Our students took home all superior and excellent ratings! Special thanks to our Performing Arts teachers at Herndon MS and Herndon HS for chaperoning and an amazing team of parents! Principal Vereb had fun chaperoning and cheering on our students in the culminating experience for our talented Hawks. After performing at Elizabethtown College, we ventured to Hershey Park for a full day of rides and sweet treats!🎶
