Our juniors and seniors took an unforgettable journey through Scotland and England this spring, exploring the beauty of Edinburgh’s historic sites, the Highlands, and the iconic landmarks across London. From climbing Arthur’s Seat to walking the Royal Mile and visiting places like Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London, each day of their trip blended learning with adventure. Evenings were invested in reflection and friendships, which expanded the meaning of the shared experience. The trip was characterized by students’ growing appreciation for history, culture, one another, and the faculty members and parents who accompanied them.

The seventh grade class trip to Philadelphia cemented history knowledge and class friendships! Students enjoyed touring the historic district, seeing the Liberty Bell, and walking in the Founding Fathers’ footsteps at Independence Hall. They also spent time at the Franklin Institute, learning about anatomy, physics, space, neuroscience, and kinesiology. Some even got to see a live dissection of a cow’s eyeball! In their downtime, students reflected on how the sights connected to their learning in class and spent time playing games, laughing, and connecting.

Eighth graders traveled to Port Isobel and Tangier islands for unique learning experiences that integrated the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay with the history and culture of a traditional waterman's community that depends on a healthy ecosystem for its livelihood. They caught blue crabs, oysters, and identified over 100 species of plants and animals. Favorite activities were the boat rides, night hike, dock and net fishing, oyster dredging, exploring the island of Tangier, s'mores around the campfire, crab races, "marsh mucking," and watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
