Todd Sombat has achieved his 1st degree black belt on December 15, 2020. Congratulation!
After hard work in Hapkido, Hamza Khan and Omar Ali have taken the Hapkido color belt exam and achieved yellow belt. To assist them, Master Tom Greaves, Master Chin, Assistant Maser Tim Baker, Instructor Daniel Greaves, and Instructor Jonathan Baker have participated in the exam. Congratulations!!
On January 18, 2020, Kaushik Siruvuri and Gagan Manjunatha achieved the 4th degree black belt (master level), and Rohan Ravulapalli also did the 3rd degree black belt. To assist, Head Master Wolf participated in the exam. Congratulations!!
To celebrate the anniversary, students prepared cake, a card, a picture frame, and bamboo swords. Memorable event!

NL Tigers Taekwondo conducted the official 4th degree black belt (master level) and 1st degree black belt Taekwondo exam on July 13, 2019. Through this test, Daniel Greaves and Sonakshi Rout became master in Taekwondo and Iulia Zbarcea achieved the 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo. The 4th degree black belt candidates, Daniel Greaves and Sonakshi Rout have been training Taekwondo approximately for 9 years. Congratulations! To make the test successfully, Head Master Wolf, Master Tom Greaves, Assistant Master Shuaib Khan, and Marc Zbarcea participated in the exam.
The 2nd Degree Black Belt Hapkido Exam
NL Tigers Hapkido conducted the 3rd degree black belt Hapkido exam officially on February 23, 2019. Through this exam, three students -Kyle Sutton, Tim Baker, and Pachu Chembukave - have achieved the 3rd degree black belt in Hapkido. To make this test successfully, Head Master Wolf, Master Greaves, Master Chin, Instructor Zbarcea, Jonathan Baker, and Daniel Greaves participated in the exam. The exam started at 12:30 pm and finished 3:30 pm. Although this exam was intensive, all candidates passed the finishing line with great confidence. Congratulations!
NL Tigers Taekwondo conducted the 1st degree black belt exam on February 16, 2019. Through this exam, 5 students, named Huy Nguyen, Kim Phan, Dana Nguyen, Lamanh Nguyen, and Guocanh Nguyen have achieved the 1st degree black belt officially. To finish this exam successfully, Head Master Wolf, Master Tom Greaves, Master Chembukave, Assistant Master Daniel Greaves, Assistant Master Gagan Manjunatha,Assistant Master Kaushik Siruvaru, Aravind Siva participated in the exam.
Alexandru Zbarcea has achieved the 1st degree black belt in Hapkido through the official Hakido black belt exam, conducted on September 15, 2015. His family was here to support him. Congratulations!
John Barone who is from San Antonio, Texas and the 3rd degree official black belt in Taekwondo has visited NL Tigers Taekwondo for his additional Taekwondo training. He stayed in this school approximately for 2 months.
On July 21, 2018, NL Tigers Hapkido conducted Hapkido open house to introduce Korean Hapkido to the public living in Washington D.C and Northern Virginia. In this event, NL Tigers presented the award of excellence to Taekwondo students and Hapkido students to honor their outstanding performance and dedication to Taekwondo and Hapkido from the beginning of January to the end of June, 2018. In addition to this, the certificate of appreciation is presented to the 2nd degree black belt Hapkido students who spent their time and energy to prepare Hapkido demonstration for the open house. After the presentation, Hapkido students, Kyle Sutton, Simon Stevens, Tim Baker, Pachu Chembukave, Alexandru Zbarcea, and Jonathan Baker, performed Hapkido techniques. They started Hapkido demonstration from breathing techniques, stepping techniques, falling techniques, hand attacking techniques and kicking techniuqe to Hapkido application techniques such as punching defense, grabbing defense, kicking defense, knife defense, gun defense, sword to sword fighting, short stick to short stick fighting, and self defense techniques with belt. Through this demonstration, the participants of Hapkido demonstration had good experience about how to present their knowledge of Hapkido as well as how to overcome adversity which they might encounter during the demonstration. To make the successful open house, parents and students brought food to share and also Hapkido student, David Englert took the pictures to keep the memory of Hapkido demonstration.
