🌿 Montessori Monday: Opening & Closing Containers 🌿
What may look like a simple activity—opening and closing containers—is actually an important Montessori Practical Life lesson!
Through this work, children practice:
-Fine motor coordination — strengthening the small muscles in their hands and fingers
-Concentration — focusing on completing each step independently
-Problem-solving — discovering how different lids, caps, and closures work
-Hand-eye coordination — coordinating movement with purpose
-Independence — learning how to manage everyday objects on their own
Montessori children are given opportunities to practice real-life skills in a purposeful, hands-on way. Opening a jar, unscrewing a lid, or fastening a container may seem small to an adult, but for a young child, these experiences build confidence and a growing sense of “I can do it myself!” 💛
🌱 In Montessori, even the simplest activities have a purpose.
