Hawk Battalion cadets participated in the annual JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) also known as summer camp this week! We stayed at a small Maine National Guard facility, Bog Brook, near Bethel in western Maine. JROTC cadets from Hermon, Bangor, Brewer, Old Town, Nokomis, and Sacopee Valley participated. Unfortunately, our hike up Mount Washington’s Tuckerman’s Ravine had to be cancelled due to inclement weather.

However, the Cole’s Museum Memorial Day event is currently still scheduled for the five selected cadets and will most likely be held inside the museum.

Parents/Cadets: All JROTC Cadets are required to participate in the Memorial Day Parade as a heavily-weighted, graded event as listed in the course syllabus and welcome packet. Cadets also earn two community service hours for participating in the parade. This year, the Memorial Day Parade is on the 25th of May. The starting location for Hermon JROTC Cadets is in the large parking lot on Exchange Street across from the courthouse, and cadets must arrive no later than 9:30 AM. Cadets must wear the full dress uniform (Dress Blues) with coat, tie/necktab, beret (headgear), and other associated items. The parade will begin at 10:15 AM and proceed down Exchange Street, State Street, Hammond Street, and Main Street. The parade will end near the Police Department, and Hermon JROTC cadets will turn down Cedar Street and gather in a parking lot near the intersection of Summer Street to turn in parade gear to the Instructors prior to being released. Parents/Cadets must arrange transportation to the start point of the parade and from the end point to home. We will be finished at approximately 11 AM.
