Freshman chefs in Kirby’s kitchen put into practice our classroom processes of mise en place, food safety, using the oven, and cleaning /sanitizing with personal tortilla pizzas! It’s a fun, easy snack that allowed them to complete a recipe in our 45 minute class time.

Kiby’s Kitchen could not do what it does without the 8th graders ending each day with their closing duties! Our custodians don’t even have to come to our classroom because these fabulous students do such a great job!
The seniors walk into the room each morning to a beautiful, clean classroom! Thank you 8th grade!

Junior and Sophomore chefs made a huge contribution to our successful cafe service last week! They tested recipes, and prepped food to help move things along Friday morning. It is definitely a team effort in Kirby’s Kitchen!

Senior chefs in Kirby’s Kitchen prepped cinnamon rolls from scratch to be sold in our student run cafe last Friday. They did a great job mise en placing , making, expoing, and delivering all 61 orders. That was a new record high for our little 1A school! We are so grateful for all the teachers, staff, and students that make this opportunity possible. We are learning so much in the process!

Kirby’s Kitchen Junior and Senior chefs took a field trip to Lubbock today! We toured and ate at Texas Tech’s Skyviews Restaurant. It is a working part of their Hospitality and Retail Management Program managed by college students. What a great experience to see first hand what Texas Tech has to offer for the future of the Hospitality Industry!

Sophomore chefs in Kirby’s Kitchen planned personal pizzas from scratch to celebrate ❤️Valentines❤️ this week. Juniors expedited and delivered the finished product. They all did a fantastic job organizing and executing the pizzas. Students and staff fell in love with the heart shaped slices of cheese and pepperoni!🥰

Last week the Freshman and 8th grade chefs of Kirby’s Kitchen went head-to-head in a Super Bowl Party Dip Contest. It was a great opportunity to learn about flavor combinations and textures. The teachers/staff had fun tasting and voting for their favorites. Big shout out to our local graphic designer, Paisley.
