🍁🍂What’s Next at MRTC?

This summer, the Mohawk Regional Teacher Center focused on reconnecting educators with themselves, their students, and the learning environments they want to create.

Across our summer professional learning, educators explored wellness, relationships, student behavior, classroom culture, student voice, and intentional design.

And their reflections reminded us why this work matters:

💬 “All students have strengths to notice, even when they are displaying behaviors.”

💬 “I can help make connections with them hopefully before behaviors start.”

💬 “The biggest shift for me is the simplicity of layering these tools into what we are already teaching. Not creating something new, but adding to what we already do.”

Now we carry that learning forward.

🍁 MRTC Fall 2026 Professional Learning

This fall begins our 2026–27 focus on the NYS Portrait of a Graduate with a season of:

Awareness & Alignment: Learn & Notice

As you look through our fall offerings, we invite you to consider:

Where does the Portrait of a Graduate already live in what I do—and where might I strengthen it?

Our fall schedule includes opportunities to explore the PoG, literacy, mathematics, equity, cognitive demand, wellness, and more—all designed to connect professional learning to the work already happening in classrooms.

📅 Take a look at our Fall Professional Learning Schedule below.

Find something that speaks to where you are, what your students need, or what you’re ready to explore next.

We can’t wait to learn alongside you this fall.

Today, the Board of Regents authorized the New York Education Department to move forward with the next phase of NY Inspires, a historic transformation of education in New York State.

Beginning with students graduating in 2028, New York will transition to one State high school diploma. In addition, Regents examinations will continue to serve as rigorous measures of academic achievement but will no longer be a separate diploma requirement.

The changes are designed to provide a more complete picture of student achievement and create more opportunities for students to demonstrate what they know and can do. https://bit.ly/4itN1Wd
