Friday was our annual Day on the Farm with our PreK–5 students! We had a variety of presenters, including Kan-Equip and Floyd’s Aerial, along with different stations led by our FFA members. The students got to learn about animals, FFA, horticulture, the metal shop, and farm equipment through hands-on activities and presentations. It was a great day of learning and getting the younger students involved in agriculture!

Big thank you to Kan-Equip, Floyd Aerial Application, NCD officer Lauren, Kickhaefer Family Farms, and Susan Mueller for providing their time, animals, and equipment for the presentation. We would also like to thank our local alumni chapter for providing snacks for the feed ration station.

It was a rainy, but successful day!

Congratulations to Lillian, who placed 7th in the FFA information test at the North Central District Greenhand Conference. At the conference, freshmen participated in leadership workshops, networked with other FFA members, and took an FFA information test. The theme this year was “Adventure Awaits”. This was the start of their FFA journey in high school. We are excited to see all that our freshmen will accomplish throughout their FFA careers!

Congratulations to Lillian, who placed 7th in the FFA information test at the North Central District Greenhand Conference. At the conference, freshmen participated in leadership workshops, networked with other FFA members, and took an FFA information test. The theme this year was "Adventure Awaits". This was the start of their FFA journey in high school. We are excited to see all that our freshmen will accomplish throughout their FFA careers!

Big thanks to Gabe Backhus (Herington Alumni) and Dallas Winter from Rolling Hills Construction for coming and speaking to the Ag Construction and Ag Mechanics classes. On Monday, August 24, the chapter hosted its annual Back-to-School BBQ. Following a pulled pork meal provided by the FFA Alumni Chapter, members participated in a leadership workshop led by North Central District Officer Lauren. At the same time, parents met with the advisors to learn more about upcoming events, activities, and important information for the chapter. It was a great opportunity for members and families to kick off the new school year together and learn more about what the year has in store.

What a great convention! We were proud to see Jax and Colten receive their State FFA Degrees, Leland and Hunter received our Chapter Seed Certificate, and Henry and Ethan represent our chapter as we were recognized with a Silver Division National Chapter Award. Along the way, members attended workshops, explored the Opportunities Fair, and even brought home 2nd place in our dodgeball pool. We’re proud of all of our members for representing our chapter so well!

The FFA banquet was held on May 10th in the elementary gymnasium. The banquet was a success as parents, members, and alumni gathered to celebrate another outstanding year. The evening consisted of degree awards, retiring officer speeches, scholarships and certificates, and installation of the 2026-2027 officers. We would like to thank all businesses, parents, and the alumni chapter for helping make our banquet a success.

On Monday, April 13th Herington FFA traveled to Clay Center to compete in Livestock Judging, Floriculture, and Nursery. Livestock judging, floriculture, and nursery are all important areas in FFA. Livestock judging involves evaluating animals like cattle, sheep, and pigs based on their quality and traits. Floriculture focuses on growing and arranging flowers and plants while learning design and plant care. Nursery work is about raising and caring for young plants, trees, and shrubs, including propagation and transplanting.

Congratulations to our Greenhand Floriculture team consisting of Marcus Hanson and Autumn Lindsey who earned 5th place without even having a full team. Also Autumn placed 5th overall. Our Livestock Discovery team consisting of Lilian Rucker, Jaelyn Rand, Chrispen Matthews, Blake Vogt, and Alleigha Weber placed 5th place, with Lilian boasting an 8th place individual finish! Congrats to all!
