Henryetta Public Schools is pleased to introduce and welcome 2014 HHS alumnus, Mrs. Hailey (Gillispie) Waller, back to the district!

Mrs. Waller has returned home to Henryetta to serve as a Full-Time Substitute Teacher and to volunteer as a Cross Country/Track coach. She is joined in Oklahoma with her husband (Cameron) and baby boy (Cain).

Mrs. Waller has very interesting career experience. She has worked for two timing companies that time Track & Field and Cross Country Meets. During her time as a Timing Coordinator, Mrs. Waller timed elementary athletes all the way up to the Masters Tournament!! Mrs. Waller said that some of the most notable athletes she has timed are Olympic Gold Medalist, Gabby Thomas, and NFL receiver, Tyrek Hill.

Before Mrs. Waller moved to Texas in 2020, she worked as an Academic Advisor/Retention Specialist at Rogers State University while she finished her Master’s in Business Administration. While she was earning her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration - Marketing, Mrs. Waller competed on the RSU women’s Cross Country team and inaugural Track & Field team.

Mrs. Waller served as an Adjunct Instructor while at RSU, but this will be her first year in elementary and secondary public ed. She is excited to watch our “students grow and learn in all facets of life.”

Mrs. Waller explained that she “has been lucky to witness, from a different perspective, just how much it means to have teachers and coaches who truly care for their students.” Growing up as a teachers’/coach’s kid, Mrs. Waller says that she “was able to see firsthand the impact that her dad (Coach G) had on many students.” That personal reference and experience is a great tool to possess when trying to positively impact students.

Mrs. Waller expressed that she is “beyond excited to be returning home to Henryetta” and joining the “school system that helped raise her!” She feels that many things have changed since she graduated in 2014, but the “pride the staff has for the school has only gotten stronger.” Mrs. Waller said that she is “excited to see our district is growing and improving, which will only create a better experience for our students.” It’s pretty special to hear alumni seeing the differences and connecting with the vision.

Mrs. Waller will get refamiliarized with the entire campus more quickly than most as she is in the unique position to serve every grade throughout the school year. We are thankful for her willingness and gratitude to take on that challenge.

We invite HHS Alumni to participate and celebrate with us in a couple of ways this football season. Our two big events will be Homecoming and Alumni Night. This was previously introduced to be on the same night, but we are making an adjustment.

We believe that October 9th COULD BE the last HHS ballgame played on Cameron Field. And if it is, we want it filled with alumni, celebrating memories and our rich history! We want to honor the legacy of Cameron Field properly. And we can’t think of a better way than to have it packed with people who love it, respect it, and will forever hold it dear.

So, HHS Alumni Night will now be celebrated on Friday, October 9th. We will introduce each participating class year on the field, just as we did last year. We will have history and interactive posts all week long on Knight Vision.

If your graduating class will have representatives at the game, you will need to register them by messaging Knight Vision page or emailing Stacy Been at [email protected] by Wed., October 7th.
This will be the only way we will know what signs to make in advance and can provide our announcer with a list of years to recognize.

We will also have a tailgate area set up for all wanting to participate before the game. It will be a time to fellowship and reminisce before our Knights kickoff.

We also invite our HHS Alumni to celebrate with us during Homecoming weekend! We know alumni classes often hold their reunions at this time. We would love to have you join us on Main Street for our Block Party Pep Rally on the Thursday night of Sept. 24th.

It is so much fun!! The 2026 Homecoming Court will drive in and be introduced, our Knight Brigade and cheerleaders will perform, homecoming floats will be on display, and our famous Clash of the Classes Dance Off will take place all in the middle of Main Street. You don’t want to miss it!

Homecoming ceremony will be at that Friday, Sept. 25th at 5:15 pm. Game will follow. If any alumni classes will be attending together, we would love to recognize you at this time with a group photo to be taken for Knight Vision and giving you a shoutout during the game. Please register the same way as Alumni Night by messaging Knight Vision page or emailing Stacy.

We hope having 2 dates of different activities will maximize our alumni participation. We will continue to give you more details in the upcoming weeks.

We are truly proud of our school’s history. Yet, at the same time, we are also excited for our future. We hope our HHS Alumni feels the same and will join us as we look to honor the past, while also having the vision to maximize the opportunities for our current and future HPS students.

Henryetta Public Schools would like to introduce and officially welcome Ms. Abbigale Green in her first full year at the district.

2018 HHS Alumnus, Ms. Green, joined the team for the second semester of last school year. She stepped into the role of paraprofessional, working within the first grade. This year, Ms. Green will be serving in the third grade for her paraprofessional duties. Additionally, Ms. Green joins the athletic department as a middle school assistant golf coach. As some of you remember, Ms. Green was a 3-time State Qualifier in golf. She was a member of the HHS Girls Golf team, coached by Coach VanDenBorn, that brought the State Runner-Up Championship trophy home to Henryetta. Ms. Green also received All-State Golf honors her senior year. All of this personal experience and noted success as a 7 year student-athlete in the HMS/HHS golf program will be a true asset as she pours into our younger golfers at Henryetta Middle School.

Ms. Green's favorite thing about her new career in public education is that she gets the opportunity to "make a difference." She explained that, "you never know what a student could be going through.” Ms. Green expressed her hopes that she can help them when needed. Her heart is to make students smile and feel valued. Ms. Green wants to ensure "they know the world is better with them in it."

When Ms. Green isn't spending her days with HPS students and athletes, she can likely be found reading, writing, hiking and playing golf. We hope she enjoys the extra time she will be investing at our Henryetta Golf Course, helping develop more young golfers to potentially enjoy the success that she did here.

Henryetta Public Schools is pleased to introduce and officially welcome out of retirement, Mrs. Laura Morris.

After 35 years in education and two attempts to retire from public ed., Mrs. Morris has once again stepped up to fulfill a critical need in our district. She will be teaching MS English Language Arts for the Special Education Department.

In fact, Mrs. Morris admitted that it's difficult to say "no" to her school family when there is a need because she loves "Henryetta's students, the school system and and community." We'd be lying if we said we weren't grateful that Mrs. Morris' heart is permanently tied to HPS. Her sentiment that she is "proud to be a part of an amazing HPS family" is something we do not take for granted....and may take advantage of when it comes to what is best for our students.

One of Mrs. Morris' favorite things about being in education is "having the opportunity to watch students learn, grow, and gain confidence in themselves." She further explained that knowing that she can "make a difference in their lives is incredibly rewarding." And now that her family is involved in the school system as well, sharing their workplace in the district allows Mrs. Morris to spend more time with them while doing something she truly enjoys.

When Mrs. Morris has free time, she loves watching baseball, bird and her flowers. She has a spoiled pup (Ace), two spoiled cats (Charlie & Frost) and one spoiled husband/our favorite HPS stat man (Rick).

Again, HPS is so very grateful for Mrs. Morris personally sacrificing her well earned retirement days to fill an important void in the high school last year, as well as in this new role in the middle school for this year. All signs are pointing to that Mrs. Laura Morris needs to stay put in our district and leave retirement for later! She is needed by our students and valued by our staff.

Henryetta Public Schools is pleased to introduce and officially welcome Ms. Melissa Arthur to our Paraprofessional team!

This is Ms. Arthur's first year in a school district, yet her personal experience more than qualifies her for this vital role. Ms. Arthur told us that she has "spent 25 years raising a son who is on the spectrum and who is now a successful young man." Ms. Arthur's real life experience over the last two decades has likely educated and prepared her to serve as a compassionate and impactful paraprofessional far more completely than anything else available. We feel fortunate to put what she has learned to work for our special education students.

Ms. Arthur is looking forward to being available and giving of herself to children who may need her - her heart, her experience and her understanding. She explained that she is excited to share her time with the students of HPS.

Family is important to Ms. Arthur. She is the loving mother to Tevan and Shayna. In her free time, Ms. Arthur enjoys shopping and spending time with her granddaughter.

Henryetta Public Schools is pleased to introduce and officially welcome Ms. Terra Blackbear as she is finishing up her first week at the district!

Ms. Blackbear is serving in an important position in our elementary school as the Cultural Teacher. This is a "specials" class in which HES students rotate between art and P.E. as well. We will be highlighting their classroom activities throughout the year.

While this is Ms. Blackbear's first year in public education, she has served and led youth over the course of her career. Ms. Blackbear worked with Breakthrough Basketball where she helped with camps all over the Midwest. She was also the head girls varsity basketball coach at Saint Francis Indian School in South Dakota. Ms. Blackbear's prior experience will serve her well at HPS.

Ms. Blackbear said that her favorite thing about working in education is the opportunity to inspire kids. This is her heart's motivation to serve in the school system. Ms. Blackbear explained that she is "excited to teach the young generation of Knights." We are thankful that she came on board to do that and look forward to watching her impact our students.

Outside of our HPS walls, you will likely find Ms. Blackbear enjoying a tv series or sewing. After a busy day of much hands-on learning in her classroom, these hobbies will be the perfect wind down to her day! We wish Ms. Blackbear the best in this new chapter of her life.

Henryetta Public Schools is pleased to officially welcome Mrs. Claryssa Heneha to our fantastic Paraprofessional team!

Mrs. Heneha is shifting gears from her previous work, including a dental assistant, to serving in the public education field. Both require compassion and a heart for serving and helping others. We believe Mrs. Heneha will be a perfect fit in her new role within the Special Education Department.

Mrs. Heneha joins her 4 daughters at HPS. She and husband, Jaston, have Gracelyn, Hazel, Wrenley, and Armani as young Henryetta Knights. Mrs. Heneha loves making memories with her children, spending time at the lake, and enjoying a good cup of coffee.

Mrs. Heneha is looking forward to "watching children learn, grow, and gain confidence." She explained that she finds it "rewarding to see their curiosity develop" and to know that she "played a part in helping them grow."

Mrs. Heneha plans to build friendships with her coworkers, contribute to a positive school environment, and make a difference in the lives of the children. In other words, she plans on being what every district hopes for in a staff member. Mrs. Heneha stated that she wants "to help make a child's day a little brighter while supporting their growth and success." We are excited to watch Mrs. Heneha do just that as she surely will thrive in her new role.

Henryetta Public Schools is proud to introduce and officially welcome, Ms. Erica Jones, as she joins the HES Special Education team!

Ms. Jones is coming on board as a full time 2nd and 3rd grade Special Education Teacher after substitute teaching for the district last spring. According to Ms. Jones, during her introduction to HPS at that time, she "fell in love with the kids and the staff." She then decided that she wanted to join us at Henryetta for her first full year in education.

HPS already had the privilege of Ms. Jones' two children, Kade and Gemma Sanders, in the district. Ms. Jones naturally fits in here, just as they have. This is Kade's senior year at HHS, and Ms. Jones is ready to cheer him on during basketball season. She is very excited to watch the Henryetta Knights take the court.

Ms. Jones expressed that she is also excited about "joining the HPS family" and learning all she can "from the incredible staff." Ms. Jones is currently finishing up her master's degree and will certainly receive support and encouragement from her peers at HPS.

When she isn't doing classwork, Ms. Jones enjoys going to concerts with her boyfriend. She says that her kids are her current hobby, but she does love a good book when she finds the time to sit down and read.

Ms. Jones said her favorite part about teaching is the "light bulb moment, when after struggling with a certain problem for so long, it just clicks for the student." She said, "the pure joy on their face is worth it all!" We believe that Ms. Jones will give everything she has to facilitating as many "light bulb moments" as possible with her students.
