๐ What an AMAZING day! ๐
Our 7th graders had a blast at the Frontier Culture Museum on Monday! From exploring pioneer homes ๐ก to trying hands-on activities like wood splitting ๐ง and playing old-fashioned games ๐ฒ, it was a step back in time weโll never forget.
The smiles, laughs, and โaha!โ moments were endless, and weโre so proud of our students for making the most of this adventure. A huge THANK YOU to our chaperones, teachers, and staff who helped make this trip possible.

There are so many myths out there about how mental illness is caused. There are just as many plain out lies about mental illness that are just not true. You may have heard all kinds of misconceptions about people who have a mental illness.
These misconceptions are just that, misconceptions. This is what stigmatizes people with a real mental illness. This kind of thinking is what keeps people with mental disorders in the closet. Hiding from treatment, fear of being made fun of. Fear of being called crazy.
Mental illness can be caused by many factors. Heredity is one factor. Often times it is inherited from a parent. Trauma plays a huge role in mental illness, losing a job, divorce, the death of loved one, deteriorating health, financial woes, all of
these can add stress and trigger emotional problems and start an ongoing mental illness such as depression, and anxiety disorders

Each morning we end the announcements with our Pocahontas mantra:
At Pocahontas, we stand up, we stand strong, we stand together. Hawks Together!
We hope this message serves as a daily reminder that all of us are part of the Pocahontas family, and we all have important roles to play in keeping our family strong.
