Maude Trevvett PTA

Good afternoon!

I am pleased to share that Maude Trevvett Elementary School has been selected to receive the 2016 Virginia Index of Performance (VIP) Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award. A school receives the award for being fully accredited, for not being required to write a plan for improvement, and for making significant progress toward educational goals established by the Board of Education and the governor.

As stated by the Superintendent of Public Instruction, Steven R. Staples, "This award recognizes schools who are on the front line of the commonwealth's effort to close achievement gaps."

We are VERY proud of our students, parents, and staff! Please join me in celebrating this great accomplishment!

5th Grade "INVENTION CONVENTION "

Trunk or Treat was a success !! Thanks to everyone who helped .

Trunk or Treat is scheduled for 10/30 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be food trucks, DJ and a dance area. How can you help? Please send in 1 bag of candy with your child before 10/28.

Attention Kindergarten and First Grade parents. Please join us for our Literacy Night on October 20th. A fun filled evening of reading activities, free books and a free meal with a drink and dessert. Several spots are still available. If you haven't received your registration form, please contact your child's teacher.

Chipotle Spirit night scheduled for 9/29 has been rescheduled to late January/early February. Thank you for supporting the PTA!

The Maude Trevvett PTA will host Back to School Night meetings tonight and tomorrow, starting at 6pm:

Monday, September 14: Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade
Tuesday, September 15: 2nd - 5th Grades

Come meet you child’s teacher and learn more about what they do each day! This is a great opportunity to join the PTA and see how you can get involved with our school!

Hard to believe that there are just two weeks left in the school year!

A reminder that the last general PTA Meeting of the year is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. We will vote on PTA officers for the 2015-16 school year (President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer) as well as one revision to the current year PTA budget.

Congratulations Teaghan!!!

Four Henrico County students were honored with 2015 AAA Outstanding School Safety Patrol awards.

Congratulations to: Lee Gwyn, Ruby F. Carver Elementary School; Aidan Baird, Ridge Elementary School; Stephanie Hurt, Chamberlayne Elementary School; and Teaghan Bloxton of Maude Trevvett Elementary School.

Dozens of patrollers from across central and western Virginia were nominated by their schools to be considered for an Outstanding School Safety Patrol award for the 2014-15 school year. The 11 winners excelled in the areas of leadership, dependability, character and academics. These extraordinary students will each receive a $100 gift card and plaque from the Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education.

Since the 1920’s Virginia AAA School Safety Patrollers have been faithfully at their posts on school buses, at parent pick-up/drop-off areas, and positioned at street corners to help other students onto school grounds and into schools safely. They also assist teachers and school administrators with the orderly arrival and dismissal of fellow students.

Through their participation, young students develop leadership skills and good citizenship qualities and often go on to do great things. Former AAA School Safety Patrollers include U.S. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, five current and former Supreme Court justices, five Olympic gold medalists and 21 astronauts!

PTA Teacher Appreciation Week - For Parents - National PTA Teachers play a key role in student success, and sometimes a simple “thanks” is all a teacher needs to feel valued. Take the time to celebrate your students’ teachers during 2014 PTA Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8, 2015.

Tonight is Spirit Night at the Chipotle at 8955 Staples Mill Road next to Target. Stop by from 5:00pm-9:00pm, show the attached flyer on your smartphone or tell the cashier you're supporting Trevvett, and 50% of proceeds will go to support the Trevvett PTA!

Reminder that there will be a PTA meeting and harmonica performance by the 3rd graders this Tuesday at 6pm.

The spirit night previously scheduled for Chipotle has been postponed until April. Exact date will be announced at a later time.

Hope everyone is enjoying their winter break so far. Reminder that school resumes on Monday, January 3.

We are saddened by the passing of Dr. Bill Bosher, a towering figure in Virginia education, and our superintendent from 1981-1994. Dr. Bosher’s vision, wisdom, and caring demeanor impacted so many lives throughout his distinguished career. His good work lives on through the many people he touched. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.

Hope everyone had a great time at our Fall Festival! Thanks to the administration, faculty, staff, parents, and everyone else who made it happen! Also thanks to Slideways Mobile Bistro for serving up some tasty sliders and fries, Nutzy the Flying Squirrel for dancing and having "Funn", and for DJ Dave Rave for spinning the tunes!

The next meeting will be held Thursday, October 16 at Hungary Creek Middle School on Francistown Road.
