We are pleased to announce the 8th Grade RISE Ceremony, a program designed to celebrate your eighth-grade student’s completion of middle school. We excitedly offer this opportunity to the eighth-grade students in celebration of their academic achievement, together with their families, classmates, and teachers.

Our RISE Ceremony will be held in the gymnasium of Highland Springs High School at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Please have your student at Highland Springs High School by 5:30 p.m. Once arriving at HSHS, please drop off your students at Door 20 and then park in the designated areas. Students will report to the auditorium and prepare to line up for the entrance procession. Parents may then proceed to the audience seating.

Because we want this to be a distinguished ceremony, we are requiring “professional dress” for the students’ attire. Male students are required to wear dress slacks and a dress shirt with a tie. Female students are asked to wear a dress, a skirt and blouse, or a pantsuit. All students must adhere to the dress code outlined in Henrico County’s Code of Student Conduct. Jeans are not acceptable.

To ensure everyone can fully enjoy this grand celebration, we ask that you refrain from using cell phones and other handheld electronic devices throughout the event. Your student should be present throughout the duration of the ceremony, and please hold all applause until after all students have been recognized. In addition, we ask that you only videotape and take photographs in the designated areas.

Balloons are not allowed inside the ceremony. You will be asked to take these items back to your car before being admitted into the ceremony.

Participation in this ceremony does not ensure your child’s promotion to high school. If you have questions about your child’s promotion status, please contact your child’s school counselor, Mrs. Tiffany Morgan at [email protected] or Mr. JaVon Jones at [email protected].

To commemorate the ceremony, each student will receive four (4) tickets for the RISE Ceremony. Tickets for participants will be issued at the conclusion of practice on Tuesday, May 26th. Children under the age of five will be admitted without a ticket.

If you plan to attend the ceremony, please be punctual, as we will begin on time. Please be mindful that seating is on a “first-come, first-served” basis. We look forward to seeing you on the evening of May 27th.

This is a friendly reminder that ALL 8th grade students MUST attend school today until Noon. If they do not attend school until Noon and they have purchased a ticket to the dance, they WILL NOT be allowed admission, and your refund will be processed next week.

We anticipate that the majority of those attending the dance will have an early dismissal in order to go home and prepare for this evening. In order to make this process as smooth as possible here are a few reminders:
• The adult picking up the student MUST be on the approved list and have a photo ID. Not on the list, no ID=No release
• When arriving for pick-up, please park in a parking space. You will not be able to pull up to the curb, run up and get your child. This blocks the fire lane, and we want everyone to get in and out as smoothly as possible.
• Please be patient. We will have stations set up outside for check-out. You may get in line starting at 11:45am, no earlier.
• DO NOT text or call your student to come up front, we must follow the normal procedure of staff calling for the student. Please do not allow your actions impact your child's ability to attend the dance.

Again, we ask that you follow the procedures as requested and we will do everything possible to make things flow as quickly as possible.

Thanks In Advance

Due to the forcast of rain this evening and cool temperatures tomorrow, we have decided to move our Spring Music Concert & Ribbon Cutting to Tuesday, May 19th . This move will provide a better experience for our students to perform and for families to relax and enjoy the event.

As an addition to this event, our Softball & Baseball team will be having a Fish Fry fundraiser. If you were lucky enough to get some at All About Me Day before they sold out, you know just how tasty it is!

Stay tuned for a new flyer!

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding
