Fairfield Middle School Fairfield Middle School is a campus-style school located in Henrico County, Virginia. FMS is part o The existing school was opened in 1959.

Fairfield Middle School, located in the Fairfield District, originated as Fairfield Junior High School in 1957. As the school was being built on an operating dairy farm, classes were held at several area schools. Two additional buildings have been added since the opening of the school. In 1971, the ninth grade was moved to Highland Springs High School. Several years later, the sixth grade was repositioned from elementary to middle school and the name was changed to Fairfield Middle School.

Henrico Alumni and Friends Inaugural 5K Fun Run/Walk!

On September 19th at 9:00 a.m. at Deep Run Park, join us for the inaugural 5K Fun Run/Walk. To launch its new program – Henrico Alumni and Friends – the Henrico Education Foundation invites you to participate in a battle of the high schools! Wear your school colors and get as many friends and family members as you can to participate. You can win bragging rights AND a super cool trophy for your high school to display all year. If you are not in a high school yet, that is OK – pick one to support or one you may feed to.

The goal is participation and FUN. ALL are welcome – past, current, future, and prospective students, their families, and everyone in between. This event is stroller- and pet-friendly, too!

Henrico Schools’ 2026 Life-Ready Expo set for Sept. 16
Event to connect students with more than 125 business, industry leaders

HENRICO, Va., Aug. 31, 2026 — Henrico County Public Schools invites middle and high school students and their families to the 2026 Life-Ready Expo on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hermitage High School, 8301 Hungary Springs Road. This career exploration event is free and open to all local students in grades 6-12 and their families.

The Life-Ready Expo offers a unique, fast-paced environment where approximately 3,000 to 4,000 attendees can engage directly with more than 125 businesses and industry organizations. Participants will represent a wide range of career sectors, including advanced manufacturing, healthcare, human services, trades, public service and safety.

Students can explore careers that align with their passions while learning about essential details for their future, such as career pathways, educational requirements, compensation and future industry growth in hundreds of fields. Beyond exploration, the event serves as a networking hub where older students can connect with employers for immediate internships, job shadowing and employment opportunities.

“Preparing students to become ‘life-ready’ is at the core of our educational goals,” said Beverly Cocke, administrative coordinator of Henrico Workforce & Career Development. “The Life-Ready Expo supports Henrico Schools’ Journey to 2030 by providing flexible, engaging ways for students to pursue their career aspirations.”

The event has been recognized nationally for its innovation by the National Association of Counties and continues to serve as a model for career exploration programs across the country.

Spanish, Dari and Arabic interpreters will be available throughout the evening.

Are you curious about Henrico’s high school specialty centers, ACE centers, and regional high schools? We’d love to have you join us at our upcoming information sessions. These events are a great way for students and families to discover programs, meet educators, and get answers to all your questions.

What to Expect
• Quick & informative sessions – Enjoy 15-minute presentations from each center, repeated throughout the event so you can catch multiple programs. Presentations begin promptly at the start time of the event,

o 6:00 p.m. on September 24th @ J.R. Tucker HS
• Flexible format – These are drop-in events, so come at a time that works best for you. No RSVP required, and you’re welcome to stay as long as you like.

• Transportation & application guidance – Ask all your transportation questions and understand the application process.
