Where is your oil stain?
In the midst of our hectic daily lives, it’s easy for us parents to forget that we have the ability (and the calling) to make the ordinary holy for our children. To do so means to act with patience, to give a little more of ourselves when we feel we’re already empty, to maybe take the long way around.
Father Ron Nuzzi, senior director of the Alliance for Catholic Education RISE (Renewing Identity, Strengthening Education), who speaks in the short message link here, is coming to Saint Mary’s on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 7 p.m. to talk about this.
His talk is titled The Future of Humanity Runs through the Family: Parenting Worth Heralding.
There will be a movie night/child care going on in the school gym while Father Nuzzi speaks in the church.
Tickets are $5/person online (or $10 at the door), and include the talk, coffee and desserts afterwards, as well as child care. Tickets will be available after the first of the year, with online ordering on the website. I encourage all parents to attend what promises to be an evening of laughter, learning and fellowship.

Saint Mary's 2016 graduate Jessica Rathbone is one of only four high school freshman in the state of Virginia who qualified for the girls' state golf tournament (States). Her dad, Keith, reports that she has had a great year with a win at Virginia Tech in the College Prep Golf tour and a third-place finish in the Greater Metro Championship with the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour. At the States tournament she finished 33rd out of 60 girls who started. Way to go, Jessica! In this picture, Jessica is accepting her first-place trophy at the College Prep Tour.

06/30/2016
On this, the last day of fiscal year 2016, let me issue a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all who contributed so generously to the Annual Fund this year. We raised $60,884.09, which is 101.47% of our $60,000 goal, and had 43% participation from current families.
Thank you for making a difference!

Just picked from our school garden: radishes and salad greens. Watch for good stuff on the salad bar! Thank you for helping us grow, Whole Kids Foundation! If anyone is interested in finding ways to help with our garden, please comment here!

Saint Mary's alumnus Logan Harvey, now a freshman at Wake Forest, was featured in today's Richmond Times Dispatch. Logan is playing baseball at Wake Forest, and per the paper, launched two home runs, including a third-inning grand slam, in the Demon Deacons’ 15-9 victory over Appalachian State. The home runs were the first of Harvey’s college career. Way to go, Logan!
