Home for Good, Henrico CASA’s second annual Playhouse Event, is coming up this spring! Five custom playhouses are being built by local builders to remind us that every child deserves a safe, healthy, loving home for good. The playhouses will be on display at Short Pump Town Center April 22 - May 8 and YOU will have the opportunity to win one.

We need your help in naming our playhouses!!

Henrico Career & Technical Education - CTE students generated so many amazing playhouse concepts! The forerunner of their ideas is this castle style playhouse that will have a removable slide (moat to be added by the lucky playhouse winners!). Materials for this playhouse are being donated by Atlantic Constructors, Inc. with mentorship by W.M. Jordan Company. What should we call it?!

We’re back better than ever in 2023 – Hope you can join us!

Registration is here for Henrico’s Life Ready Expo on Tuesday, September 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Hermitage High School.

WHAT IS IT: The Life Ready Expo is our district-wide career exploration event for Richmond area students grades 6-12. The Life Ready Expo offers students and their families the opportunity to talk with employers from each of Virginia’s 17 career clusters, and learn about career pathways, educational requirements along with compensation, and future growth in career fields.

WHY PARTICIPATE: The goal is for students to learn about career pathways (or career clusters) that interest them, while making connections with businesses and industry leaders. To tackle the growing labor shortage, students need to be exposed to careers far earlier than their senior year. The Life Ready Expo is an opportunity for you to make such connections with students early to build employee capacity for the future. And don’t forget, our junior and senior students attending the event will be looking for opportunities for internships, externships, summer employment, as well as careers after graduation.

HOW DO I SIGN UP: The deadline to participate is September 1, 2023, and is on a first-come, first serve basis by career clusters to ensure every field has representation. After registering at the quick link provided, you will receive more detailed information at the end of August. If you are unable to use the Google Form because of your company’s firewall, please let me know and I can assist you. Please register using this Google link. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSceqOqTc1ZIzeaB4oAXZblXhuriknmwkrdtPoJRomP212ylhg/viewform?pli=1

We are excited to offer this opportunity to connect students and businesses together, building future employee capacity in your field!

We look forward to talking with you soon.

Camp NAWIC is for girls entering 7th - 9th grades to introduce them to a potential career in the construction industry. Many young girls are unaware of the possibility of a rewarding and financially beneficial career in the construction trades or related fields. Camp NAWIC is designed to give them real hands-on experiences.

This year the Henrico Adult Education at Regency is hosting the event. For 5 days, the campers will be exposed to a variety of trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, heavy equipment, and finishing. There will be both classroom and hands-on activities.
