FROM GAYTON ELEM PTA-
🎪🐊 YAY!!! IT’S ALMOST CARNIVAL TIME! 🐊🎪
⭐️ New This Year! For the safety of our students, new Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) policies include mandated liability waivers in order for students to use inflatables. Additionally, to help prevent injuries, HCPS requires that specific inflatables be assigned to certain grade levels. Students will receive different colored wristbands, and each color will match the inflatable they are allowed to use. All students are allowed to use the sports inflatable and the corn maze inflatable.
• Purple Wristbands: Kindergarten and 1st Grade (and younger)
• Green Wristbands: 2nd and 3rd Graders
• Blue Wristbands: 4th and 5th Graders
—Middle schoolers will not be permitted on the grade level inflatables—
Further questions regarding the new policies can be directed to the HCPS Facilities Department.

HENRICO SCHOOLS CALENDAR UPDATE 📆
On April 21, Virginia will hold a recently announced special election requiring the use of several dozen Henrico Schools sites as polling places. In keeping with existing division safety protocols for elections, schools will be closed for students and school-based staff on Tuesday, April 21 (12-month employees will report as usual). To recapture a portion of this time, HCPS will convert the planned early dismissal day on Thursday, March 19, to a full day of learning.
Unlike times of inclement weather, the Virginia Code does not recognize remote learning to offset instructional time lost due to election day closures, which necessitated this change. An updated calendar is available on the school division website at https://www.henricoschools.us/page/school-calendar.
In the unlikely event of additional snow days or other emergency closures this school year, the division will leverage remote learning to make up for lost instructional time.
We understand that schedule changes can create challenges for families, and we appreciate your flexibility as we comply with election day needs while continuing to prioritize student learning. Thank you.

Henrico County Public Schools will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
HCPS Facilities teams are on school campuses to assess weather impacts to buildings, sidewalks and parking lots. While progress is being made to clear areas, extremely icy conditions across Henrico County and frigid temperatures mean we cannot open schools on Wednesday.
Twelve-month employees telework as they are able. HCPS Facilities staff report as directed by their supervisor.
