The Parent Voice NH Project is a research study seeking to understand parents in NH and their attitudes towards LGBTQ+ inclusive curriculum at their child’s public school.
As many of us know, what kids are being taught at school is a hot button topic of debate. There has been a lot of discourse about what should and should not be included in the official school curriculum, and parents are taking a deeper interest in having a voice in what their children are learning. In NH in particular, recent policies have limited what teachers can include in their classrooms, and are meant to represent wide public opinion on the topic. However, there is very little research that shows the levels of parents' support and opposition for these kinds of topics. This research study aims to get a clearer, more accurate view of what NH parents really want for their kids by surveying them about their attitudes towards LGBTQ+ topics being taught in schools.
The researcher of this study is a NH teacher working on their doctoral degree through New England College in Henniker. It is not supported by political or corporate interest groups and aims to give an unbiased analysis of the data.
