🍎Reminder: Henderson County Public Schools will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day.

This long weekend is also a time to celebrate the traditions that make Henderson County such a special place, including the North Carolina Apple Festival. Throughout the weekend, many of our students will showcase their talents at the festival and in Monday's King Apple Parade. We're also proud to see East Henderson High School’s own Haley Marshall representing our community as the 2026 Apple Ambassador.

We hope you and your family have a safe and restful weekend! Stay updated with all school calendars at https://bit.ly/26-27SchoolCalendars.

🍕🧀 It’s lunchtime — and there’s something new on the menu!

Thanks to the HCPS Child Nutrition Department, the team is unveiling this *new* delicious dish at elementary, middle and high schools across the district.

The pepperoni grilled cheese, served with marinara sauce for dipping, is part of a balanced meal served with a serving of fruit and veggies, too.

If your student has this meal with milk, it provides almost 60% of the recommended daily dairy servings.

🍎🎨 Heading downtown for the Apple Festival this weekend? Keep an eye out for TWO bears designed by HCPS student artists!

Four talented student artists from Henderson County Public Schools have left their mark on downtown Hendersonville through this year’s Bearfootin’ Art Walk!

🐻 Smart Start Partnership for Children Bear — “Under My Wing”
Created by Jillian and Leo, from Henderson County Career Academy, this year’s bear represents the care, belonging, and guidance every child needs to grow.

🐻 Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County Bear — “Porcelain Home”
Created by Stephan and AC from Henderson County Early College, this bear draws inspiration from Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold.

We’re proud to see the creativity and talent of our HCPS students on display in the heart of our community!

Bus Ridership Week is August 31–September 4, 2026! 🚌

Next week is an important week for school transportation in Henderson County! Each year, the state determines transportation funding in part by the number of students who ride the school bus to and from school during Bus Ridership Week.

We’re encouraging students who use bus transportation to ride the bus as many days as possible next week. Strong ridership helps ensure we have the resources needed to serve our students and accommodate families whose transportation needs may change throughout the school year.

Did you know? Every school day, Henderson County school buses travel approximately 6,100 miles and safely transport approximately 4,500 students.

Every rider counts! Help us support school transportation by riding the bus during Bus Ridership Week. 💛

Students at Hendersonville Elementary made a splash at Water Day! 💦

The Cubcats have been hard at work since July, but that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been time for some summer fun! Earlier this month, students cooled off with inflatable water slides, a foam cannon, a special visit from the City of Hendersonville Fire Department, NC, and, of course, snow cones! 🍧☀️

As we wrap up our first full week of school, we want to recognize some familiar faces who have been right there with us from day one—our School Resource Officers!

A big THANK YOU to the Hendersonville Police Department NC and the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, Hendersonville North Carolina for making sure an SRO is on every campus, every day.

Our SROs do so much more than help keep our schools safe. They build relationships, support our staff, and become trusted members of our school communities.

We’re grateful to have them alongside us as we begin another great school year.
