🦁🌿 SAFARI WEEK IS COMING TO HMA KARATE! 🌿🦓
Week 4 of our Eight Weeks of Summer Fun is happening June 22–27 at Hendersonville Martial Arts!
This week, our Little Dragons and Karate Kids are invited to dress as their favorite animal or come ready for adventure as a jungle explorer. We’ll also be working safari-inspired games and activities into class to make training even more fun!
🏆 Best safari costume wins a FREE Private Lesson!
Important note for parents: This is also Stripe Test Week, so please make sure outfits are martial arts appropriate and safe for training.
We can’t wait to see our HMA students bring the safari spirit to the mats this week!

Crazy Hair Week was a BLAST! 🤪🥋
This was Week 3 of our EIGHT WEEKS OF SUMMER FUN at Hendersonville Martial Arts, and our students did not disappoint. We saw wigs, spikes, colors, wild styles, and some seriously creative hairdos on the mats this week.
Even some of our HMA Karate Instructors got in on the crazy! 😆
We had some awesome contenders, but only one can take home the title…
Stay tuned to see who our Crazy Hair Week winner will be! 🏆

Ready to learn one of the most versatile weapons in martial arts?
Join us next Saturday, June 27 at 2:00 PM for our HMA Krav Maga Bo Staff Seminar!
In this action-packed seminar, Mr. Martin and Mr. Caldwell will teach participants how to manipulate the bo staff for effective blocks, strikes, and spinning movements. They’ll also warm everyone up with some karate kicks we don’t typically train in our regular Krav Maga classes.
This event is open to everyone ages 14 & up — not just HMA Krav Maga students — and no martial arts experience is required.
The cost is just $59 and includes a training bo staff that participants can keep for ongoing practice.
Space is limited, so reserve your spot today using the link below:

Dads & Me classes were a blast! 👊🥋
With Father’s Day coming up tomorrow, we welcomed our HMA Karate dads onto the mats for some side-by-side training, pad striking drills, and quality family time.
These dads showed up ready to train, encourage, laugh, and make some great memories with their kids. We had so much fun watching these families work together, hit pads, and share the martial arts experience as a team.
Thank you to all the awesome HMA dads who joined us today. We hope you have an amazing Father’s Day weekend!

What an awesome week at HMA Ninja Warrior Camp! 🥷🔥
Our June camp was three action-packed days full of training, missions, big boss battles, games, crafts, character development, and of course…the one and only HMA Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course!
We are so proud of all the ninjas in training who showed up, worked hard, and gave their very best all week long.
A huge thank you to our amazing HMA team members Mr. Caldwell, Mr. Martin, and Miss Wolff for leading the charge and making this camp such a blast. We also had an incredible group of student volunteers who went above and beyond to help create a camp experience these kids will never forget.
Maybe in July’s camp, we will defeat the evil Samurai 👿 once and for all…
Stay tuned! 🥷⚔️

🥋 Krav Maga vs. BJJ: Which is better for self-defense?
First, let’s be clear: we love Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
BJJ is an incredible martial art. The takedowns, positional control, submissions, escapes, and live rolling make it one of the most effective and rewarding systems you can train.
But if your main goal is real-world self-defense, especially with limited time to train, Krav Maga may be the better starting point for most people.
Why?
Because self-defense requires more than ground fighting.
You need to know how to strike, defend strikes, escape grabs and chokes, deal with weapons, stay aware, create space, and get home safely. You also need a training progression that helps everyday men and women build confidence without being thrown into the deep end too soon.
At HMA, we believe in being well-rounded. We teach striking, clinch work, takedown defense, ground defense, weapon defenses, and scenario-based training with one main goal:
Get home safe.
In a perfect world, train both. BJJ can absolutely make you better. But if your primary interest is practical self-defense, a strong Krav Maga program is a great place to start.
