It’s always difficult to share sad news but especially so upon the passing of Steve Cleek, former JPII employee and father of alumna Hailey Cleek '12.

A retired officer, Steve was head of security at JPII from 2018-2022, and he was a beloved figure around campus for faculty and students alike. He was famous for giving out Lifesaver mints to all, and reflective of his servant-leadership, he developed a summer camp to teach young teens life skills, like changing a tire, writing a letter, and ironing a shirt -- giving his camp earnings to his student helpers.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of alumna Hannah Craighead ‘17. Visitation and Services will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Madison, TN, from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM.

Charles Joel Vaughn Joel was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on July 12, 1951. He passed away of natural causes on February 28, 2026, in Wayne, New Jersey. Joel grew up in Little Rock, where he went to Catholic High School for Boys. He went on to graduate from Rhodes
