🌧️❤️ Rain or shine, our HES dads show up!

A huge THANK YOU to this group of dads who braved the stormy weather this morning to open car doors and welcome our students to school! We truly appreciate them giving our staff a break from morning duty! 🙌

And we’re not done yet! Another group of dads will be back this afternoon to help with car duty, while several HES moms will be giving our teachers a break in the hallways by waiting with students until their rides arrive. ❤️

We are so grateful for our amazing HES parent volunteers (and the Hendersonville Elementary School PTO for coordinating)! It truly takes a village! 🐾❤️🤍

Our 4th graders have been experimenting with static electricity and putting their science skills to the test!

Their challenge: Can you pick up a piece of paper using only a balloon? 🤔🎈📄

They made predictions, experimented, and discovered the shocking science behind static electricity! ⚡🔬

Our third graders had a "cool" time exploring the states of matter last week! Students experimented with Kool-Aid, using ice and rock salt to transform it from a liquid into a solid. They put their science skills to the test—and got to enjoy a delicious frozen treat at the end! 🔬❄️

Who knew science could be so tasty?! ❤️🤍

💥 Demolition Day in STEM! 🏗️

Our 1st-grade engineers took their study of force and motion to the next level! Students put on their hard hats and became demolition experts, testing how different amounts of force from a wrecking ball affected a tower of cups.

Then came the real engineering challenge: Could they design and build a wall strong enough to withstand the wrecking ball and keep at least THREE cups standing? 🧱💪

Through testing, redesigning, and trying again, our young engineers discovered that the best designs come from creativity, teamwork, and perseverance.

💬 Ask your 1st grader how they designed their mega-strong wall and what they learned about force and motion!

Our 5th graders recently investigated an important question in STEM: Which materials block more UV rays than sunscreen?

Working together, students made predictions, designed a fair and controlled test, collected and analyzed their results, and used evidence to draw conclusions about sun protection. 🧪🕶️☀️

We love seeing our students put their scientific thinking and teamwork skills to work! Be sure to ask your 5th grader what they discovered about protecting themselves from the sun. 🔍💡

We love seeing families take advantage of our new Family Lunch Area! ❤️

While our cafeteria is a wonderful place for students to gather and enjoy time with their classmates, we know it can also be a busy and noisy environment. That’s why this year, we’ve created a quieter outdoor option where families can slow down, connect, and enjoy lunch together.

Today, this family celebrated a special birthday lunch with their daughter at our front picnic tables! 🎂☀️ What a sweet way to make her birthday even more memorable. 💕

We’re so excited to welcome more HES families to join their children for lunch this year and make some special memories together! 🐾❤️🤍

Family Lunch Area:
🍎 Check in through the front office when you arrive.
🍎 Your child will be called to join you.
🍎 Enjoy lunch together at our front picnic tables!

We hope to see you around the picnic tables soon! ❤️

🐝🍯 Yesterday, Mrs. Mains’ class welcomed one of our very own HES parents for a fascinating lesson all about bees! Students are beginning to read articles about bees this week and will be learning how to identify the main idea. This special guest helped bring their learning to life. Students learned about the different types of bees and their important jobs, discovered what a honeycomb looks like at different stages, and even got to taste some delicious sourwood honey! 🍯🐝

🏀 PE PALS IS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY! 🎉

Big news from the gym! This week, we officially kicked off our brand-new PE Pals program—inspired by our school’s 5th Grade Paw Pals! 🌟

We are so proud of our compassionate 3rd and 4th graders who are stepping up to give up their recess time to spend time in the gym alongside their classmates. They’re working on motor skills, playing games, and building meaningful friendships while creating a more inclusive and welcoming school community for everyone. 🤝✨

In PE, movement is our tool, but community is our goal. Watching these young leaders lead with empathy, celebrate big wins, and prove that inclusion matters has certainly been a highlight of the week! 🥳💪

Inclusion isn’t just something we teach at HES—it’s something we live. Way to go, PE Pals! 🏆❤️
