SOS-Save Our Schools

SOS-Save Our Schools Giving Sumner County students a voice in their education. What can you do as a parent? Come to County Commission (CC) and School Board (BoE) meetings!

We have a voice and if we all work together in a positive way then we will be able to change our name to SOS-Students Of Sumner! We are organizing Sumner County students and parents to gather together and have a voice about our county's education. Join our Facebook group SOS, and fan our page SOS-Save our Schools. Blue ribbons, blue ribbons, blue ribbons! Show your support all the time by wearing

or hanging a blue ribbon ANYWHERE! Talk to your children about it. It's complicated and confusing, but you would be SO surprised how much they will actually grasp AND LEARN! See if they are interested in writing a letter to their school board member or county commissioner, writing a speech for one of the meetings, having a fundraiser (small or large), gather groups of students in your school together and start an SOS group in your school! We would LOVE to help you in any way possible! Talk to other parents and community members about the importance of our involvement year round! Show the commissioners and the school board, that you have a voice and want them to provide our students with the best possible resources and education.

$5 million = $63 per household in Sumner County. Have a bake sale, lemonade stand, yard sale or anything that YOU can do yourself to raise some money. Then send it to your school board member or county commissioner or bring it to Monday's meeting and show them that the students are willing to make sacrifices and pay their share to get the best possible education. Call 452-4063 to find out who your commissioner is. They need to hear from us NOW, tomorrow, next week and next year! They need to know we are paying attention ALL THE TIME! Prepare a short 1 - 2 minute speech to give at the meeting and tell them why they need to give our schools more money. You can email us at [email protected].

As a parent, I have found this website/FB page to have lots of great resources. I have a child with ADHD, which is what initially sparked my interest, but I have found useful info for guiding all of my kids on their site.
