Meet Bo…reading to a kindergarten class…

Last May, Bo had finished kindergarten unable to read.

His mother asked me to work with him, but I was hesitant…thinking maybe we should wait another year before enrolling him into the Academic Associates reading course.

…But we persevered…

lessons twice a week through the summer.

Now, into his second month of first grade, Bo has read over 350 words.

‘No need to cry’ was a statement I often made when it came time to read in our home.

My daughter is nine years old, currently in the third grade.

She is a very bright child that loves math and all things social!!

But reading has been a different story.

I watched my daughter have tears of frustration while trying to learn to read using traditional methods.

She would give such effort and end up feeling defeated and embarrassed. It just wasn’t clicking.

We tried numerous curriculums, programs and methods, all to leave her in the same spot she started - frustrated and unable to read. (Not just memorizing words, but the ability to truly sound them out.)

Then we enrolled in the Academic Associates reading course. The way it approaches reading is unlike any other literacy program we have tried before.

These sessions have fostered a level of confidence in our daughter that we were dreaming of.

And now? My daughter has graduated the program with a love for reading, even volunteering to read aloud in front of others! No more tears (over reading at least 🤪).

Olivia’s mom

Olivia was part of a group of students who presented a favorite book while dressed in character.

The American Girl series Addy has captured Olivia’s interest while boosting her reading confidence.

Isaiah’s mom:

“We love listening to Isaiah read us his little books. He WANTS to read them to us.”

Joe recently completed the Academic Associates reading course. His mother, Sarah, commented:

“Joe has grown in reading confidence over the last year. He can sound out words his older siblings struggle with. It took a lot of hard work on his part, but he looks forward to reading every night and is excited to begin 4th grade”.

Upon completion of the reading course Clayton’s mom wrote: “…he went from dreading reading to enjoying reading and looks forward to reading each night…

He gained his confidence back and learned hard work pays off.”

Recently Hayden graduated from the Academic Associates reading course and was also named Student of the Month at Greenbrier Elementary!
