...and now, the game you've all been waiting for: Division 6A Championship
The thrill of watching this game defies description. Our guys fell behind 11-2 at the end of the first quarter, but they never quit. They never gave up. They scraped and clawed their way back to make it close, and then, with time running out, we witnessed a series of plays that can only be described as miraculous, sending the game into overtime and resulting in victory over the Breakers for the second time.
Every single player on the court stepped up to contribute, giving their best effort and making unbelievable plays time after time when it seemed that hope was fading and the game was slipping away.
Coach Caleb Maxwell prepared these young and inexperienced players from day one to do as much as they could, without demanding roles and skills they are not yet capable of, and he out-coached every team he faced.
These young guys answered the challenge. They are the very definition of teamwork and what can be accomplished when players lose themselves in and for the sake of their team. They played hard, they played smart, and they played together, exhibiting the heart and soul of true champions.
The parents and fans who made the trip will certainly agree that it was an honor and pleasure to be a part of this incredible event. Congratulations to all.
