Not every student is ready for college right after high school-and that’s okay.
A gap year can be a smart, intentional choice when a student needs time to grow, gain skills, work, explore career interests, or build confidence before taking on college.
But a gap year isn’t just “taking a break.”
Many colleges have a formal deferral process that needs to be planned correctly so students protect their admission, financial aid, and future options.
The key is creating a plan...not pressing pause. A productive gap year can become a powerful step forward. Reach out for guidance.

You think your students social media (or lack thereof) won't impact college?
Over 75% of universities are looking at your students' social media pages. Use it properly OR lose out on thousands......
"Nothing to hide" does not equal "something to show." Colleges are not just screening for red flags — they are actively using digital engagement data and enrollment management algorithms to assess a student's demonstrated interest, fit, and likelihood to enroll. A blank or generic online presence is not neutral. It is a missed opportunity.
The students who understand this are not just avoiding bad posts. They are building searchable, strategically positioned digital identities that signal exactly what an admissions officer — and the algorithm behind them — is looking for. That is a very different conversation than digital hygiene.
Reach out if you need guidance.
Parental Guidance: Will a Provocative Post Wreck Your Child’s College Chances?
The chances that social media will affect college admissions are rare. Here’s how to handle digital hygiene without panicking.

🎓 It’s Time to Start Planning for College
College isn’t getting cheaper, and waiting until senior year can cost families thousands.
Think about it this way: If you could get a 4-year degree for the price of 2, why wouldn’t you get help?
The right strategy can uncover scholarships, maximize financial aid, strengthen applications, and help students avoid costly mistakes.

There are 2 Paths in the College Process:
One path:
Write checks for $40,000+ a year.
Drain savings.
Delay retirement.
Watch your kid graduate with stress attached to every dream.
Other path:
A smart college strategy.
Merit aid.
Reciprocity programs.
The same degree… without the financial chokehold.
The question isn’t:
“Can your child get into college?”
It’s:
“Do you want to pay full price… or save $80,000?”

Thinking About Planning for College?
• Need state-of-the-art test prep? I have that
• Worried about how to pay for college? I can show you options.
• Did you know if your student fits in the top 25% at a college, they could get paid to go? I can show you how.
• Did you know over 75% of colleges use social media during the admissions process? I can help with that too.
Only 45% of college students graduate in 4 years. We don’t just have a student loan crisis — we have a graduation crisis
Don’t believe me? I’ve been doing this for 15 years, and even the highest-achieving students can take longer than expected. The earlier you plan, the more opportunities your student will have.

College and Neurodivergent Students
As your senior preps for graduation, you are likely staring at a mountain of dorm supplies while a knot of "what-if's" tighten in your chest. As both a college planner and someone who cares deeply about the mental health of this transition, I can tell you: what you are feeling isn't just "parental nerves"- it's a rational response to a MASSIVE SYSTEMIC SHIFT.
When your child is neurodivergent (ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia, etc.), the transition to college isn't just a move; it's a total removal of the "invisible scaffolding" you've spent 18 years building for them.
This transition can feel scary; I'm here to help. Now taking on families for fall 2026. www.daniellelacoste.com
