Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School

Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School Serving grades 6-12, Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School is a Catholic school in the Diocese of Nashville, Tennessee.

Established as Pope John Paul II High School in 2002, our community was quickly characterized as a Catholic community of faith and service with high academic standards, competitive athletics, and innovative extracurricular programs. Inspired by our understanding that God made each of our students with unique gifts that can be used to change the world, our school exists to serve our students and th

eir families by helping young adults find their God-given talents and discover their greater purposes in life. With the addition of middle grades in the fall of 2021, our institution’s name changed to Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School. We are an innovative, growing institution committed to our unchanging mission: to prepare students to be strong in mind, body, character, and spirit for lives of learning and service, according to the Gospel.

We got a visit from a group of Saints today from St. Edward Catholic School! 😇

This group of Saints were the cool kids on campus that brought the energy to our hallways, even getting a shoutout from Dr. Chittle at today's all school Mass!

Thank you for visiting, Saints! ⚔️

A central figure to the JPII campus that many have asked “How did you get that in here?” is our topic of this week’s Throwback Thursday: Celebrating 25 years of JPII!

John Czernoczky, George Czernoczky, and Steven Chambers worked 10-hour days for 4-months to complete the project, even having to use the large statue’s shadow to escape the summer heat.

On July 23rd, 2008, a 10-man crew and two construction cranes delicately spent 4-hours to position the pope statue right outside the JPII courtyard doors to welcome students, teachers, and guests to our beautiful campus and honor our namesake, Pope John Paul II.

The fine arts allow us to express ourselves through our creative processes and students in Mrs. Grubb’s Middle School Studio Art Class relied on their creative process to turn an everyday item into a still drawing. 💭 ✍️

This still drawing project helped students focus on how shapes help us establish proportion and form, while line helps us capture edges, details, and textures. Using these drawing techniques, students took a familiar object, their shoe, and turned them into still life drawings. 👟

Students in Ms. Head’s 8th Grade Ancient World History Class had an opportunity to express their culture, beliefs, knowledge, customs, and values by showcasing their culture through their homescreen of curated apps. 📲

After each student created their culture homescreen, they then had the opportunity to connect with their peers and celebrate the differences they noticed between the two cultures. Helping students connect with one another helped to display the uniqueness and value of each individual and also show how we are all created in the image and likeness of God. 💙

We appreciate all of our students, parents, The American Red Cross volunteers, and the JPII Campus Ministry for giving back to their community at today’s Blood Drive!

Although this may just be a small piece of us, we hope it is able to be a big blessing to someone else. 💙

25 years of Knights, memories, and moments that have shaped who we are. From the founding of our school to surviving the flood of 2010, there is no shortage of stories to tell. ⚔️

Tune in every Thursday as we look back and relive 25 incredible years of the stories, traditions, and moments that have made JPII, JPII. 💙
