Happy Principal’s Day to our very own superhero, Mr. Bellow!

He’s a cut above the rest. The kind of principal who knows students by name, gives knuckles in the hallway, checks in when kids are struggling, and somehow makes every person feel seen. The rapport he has with students is something special. They know he genuinely cares, and that makes all the difference.

And for staff? We are beyond grateful for the trust, autonomy, support, and encouragement he gives us to teach in ways that bring out our best. He leads with confidence, humor, and heart, and Liberty is better because of it.

Today we had a little fun celebrating him. Staff members spent the morning texting him the most bizarre fake excuses for not coming to work, and students were secretly assigned a mission: randomly walk up to Mr. Bellow and tell him something completely unnecessary like, “Mr. Bellow, I had pancakes for breakfast.”

Safe to say… we kept him on his toes today while reminding him just how loved and appreciated he is.

An English teacher from Liberty High School was selected for the University of Chicago's Outstanding Educator Award!

Mr. Michael Thorsteinson was nominated by a former CCSD graduate, who is now a student at The University of Chicago, for being an inspiring educator.

Congratulations, Mr. Thorsteinson, on this amazing recognition!

Today we had some special guests, Spider-Man and Darth Vader, swing and march their way into our lunch period to celebrate Marvel vs Star Wars day with us!

The students loved having our friendly neighborhood hero and the Dark Lord on campus. Thanks for bringing the fun (and maybe a little bit of the Force) to our lunch!
