Congratulations to our Academic Team for placing FIRST in the 10th District Governor’s Cup Competition today.

All individual winners and our Quick Recall team advance to the Governor’s Cup Regional Competition on February 4th at Burns Middle School in Owensboro.

Congratulations to our Academic Team who competed in the District 10 Governor's Cup Competition at Owensboro Catholic Middle School. Overall, our Cadets placed 1st in the district and will continue onto Regionals February 5 at NMS.

The team results are as follows:

Quick Recall - 1st place
Future Problem Solving - 4th place

Written Assessments:
Mathematics: 3rd place Olivia Joyce; 1st place Libby Townsend
Science: 2nd place Max Tabor; 1st place Miles Gugel

North Middle School was also the recipient of the Hume Sportsmanship Award. This was voted on by all participating teams based on participation in all competition components.

North Middle School Academic Team is your 10th District Governor’s Cup Champions!! Results coming a little later.

Our Cadets were also voted to receive the sportsmanship award! Well done Cadets!

Congratulations to all of our participants. Next stop, Regionals on February 5.

The 6th grade Academic Team competed in the 2021 6th Grade Showcase at Clay Elementary today. Team members competed in written assessments, composition, and quick recall. Congratulations to all who participated. Our NMS Cadets were the Overall Champions of the Showcase and Quick Recall Champions.

Cadet individual placers in subject area assessments are as follows:
Mathematics: 6th place Caden Boggess, 2nd place Jacob Gorrell, and 1st place Garrison McCord

Wishing great success to our Cadets Science Bowl team as they compete in Paducah, sponsored by the US Department of Energy and the UK College of Engineering (Paducah Campus). Team members are Kat Nunn, Miles Gugel, Max Tabor, Ty Boggess, and Ben Frederick.

North Middle School's Academic Team has been busy!

The team placed second overall at the District Governor's Cup competition just two weeks ago. Seven students advanced to the Regional competition in written assessment and composition. Additionally, the quick recall advanced with a second place finish!

Today, at the Regional competition 5 students advanced to the State competition! As a team they finished 2nd overall in the Region!

Congratulations NMS academic team! You made everyone proud today!

Congratulations to North Middle School's 6th grade academic team. They placed first overall at their regional tournament scoring a total of 67 points, Holy Name scored 32.5 points placing 2nd, Muhlenberg South scored 25.5 points placing 3rd, Henderson South scored 20 points placing 4th, McLean county scored 14.5 points placing 5th, and Muhlenberg North scored 14 points placing 6th.

Henderson North's team was undefeated-- winning 4 consecutive matches in quick recall placing first in this event.

Individual medals went out to the following students: (24 students competed in each subject area)

Math: 3rd place- DeAndre Marcelin
2nd place-Cameron Davis
1st place- Libby Townsend

Science: 2nd place-Max Tabor
1st place-Miles Gugel

Language Arts: 1st place-Libby Townsend

Arts and Humanities: 5th place-Cameron Davis

Composition: 2nd place-Avery Harper

Social Studies: 1st place- Miles Gugel

6th graders competing in the 6th Grade Showcase tomorrow need to be at NMS at 6:30 tomorrow morning in their Academic Team polo. The bus is scheduled to leave at 6:45! ALL attending students need to ride the bus to the competition. Parents who attend have the option to sign their student out from a coach after they compete, to ride back with the parent. All others will ride the bus back to NMS. Good luck, Cadets!

6th Grade Parents - Today your students were given information about next Saturday's "6th Grade Showcase". Please sign and return to Mr. Fifer by Tuesday. ALL STUDENTS will need to ride the bus together to the tournament. Students will not need any money to attend. If you would like to donate any food items, please contact Mr. Fifer as soon as possible.

Don’t forget...Scrimmage tomorrow at HCHS for Quick Recall teams. Students will stay after school and take a bus to the high school. Parents are welcome to watch. Please be at the high school by 5:30 to pick up your students, dismissal will be approximately 5:30-5:45. Please have them wear a NMS Academic Team polo if possible.
