Hello Sharks!
My name is Cheyenne Newman, and I'm thrilled to be your new fourth grade ELA teacher at Somerset Stephanie!

I was born and raised in Southern California and have lived in many different states before calling Nevada home for almost five years now. When I'm not teaching, you'll find me reading (naturally!), tending to my plants and the local hummingbird population, or singing the Hamilton soundtrack with my husband.

I'm passionate about literacy and helping students discover their voices through reading and writing. I'm LETRS certified in the Science of Reading, and for three years I have focused on building positive classroom communities while reaching for academic heights here in Nevada.

I graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor's in Anthropology and Sociology and a Master's in Education. I hold both California and Nevada teaching credentials and couldn't be more excited to learn and grow alongside your students this year!

P.S. Hammerheads are my favorite sharks! Here's to seeing fourth grade from all the best angles!
