Hi my name is Lee Shelton! Teaching and building meaningful relationships with young people has been a lifelong passion of mine. While attending Washington State University, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education, along with coursework qualifying me to teach Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Botany, and Earth Science. During college, I also served as a volunteer leader with Young Life, an experience that deepened my commitment to mentoring students both academically and personally. In January 2026, I completed my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction through Western Governors University, further strengthening my ability to design engaging, research-based instruction.
My educational journey has included teaching kindergarten at our church in Portland, Oregon, serving as a K–8 paraeducator in Maricopa, Arizona, and, after relocating to Las Vegas to be closer to our grandchildren, teaching both high school English and 7th-grade science with the Clark County School District. These experiences have equipped me to support students with diverse learning needs, collaborate effectively with colleagues and families, and create engaging, technology-rich, and hands-on learning experiences. My background in both English and science enables me to integrate literacy, critical thinking, and effective communication across the curriculum while encouraging students to develop curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
I look forward to partnering with families to create a classroom where every student feels known, valued, and challenged to reach his or her full potential. Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our children and grandchildren, hiking, reading, and continually exploring new ways to inspire students and foster a love of learning.
