“I have known Harry Reid since I was 17 years old. As a Senior at Valley High School in 1968, I walked precincts for his first campaign for the Nevada state assembly. We have been close friends and colleagues ever since. He was a unique and most remarkable public servant. He cared deeply for his family, the people of the state of Nevada, and the United States of America.

As tributes continue to pour in highlighting his many contributions to improving the lives of millions of our fellow citizens, I think it is important to recognize his contributions to Touro University. Through his efforts, Touro was able to create our original health clinic as well as our Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities that has helped thousands of youngsters since 2007. In addition, he helped provide the funding to expand the Touro Health Center in 2014, which has served tens of thousands of patients.

He provided this funding with no fanfare or recognition, in order to improve the lives of people in desperate need of the services that Touro provides. Personally, I shall miss my friend Harry Reid more than I can express. Politically, he was a strong and dependable partner and professionally, he made it possible for Touro University to provide care for the most needy people of this community.

We will never be able to repay him for his efforts. But all of our lives have been improved by this unique man who cared so deeply for his fellow Nevadans.”
