It was a pleasure learning about her athletic, work, and academic experiences, as well as her interest in a variety of areas of healthcare. She's got a little time yet before she comes to us, but we certainly look forward to working with her towards her personal and professional goals!

The need is still there - please consider donating. Great or small, we appreciate them all!!

🇬🇭 Help FHU Nursing Make a Lasting Impact in Ghana! ❤️

In January 2027, FHU Nursing will return to Village of Hope (VOH) in Ghana with a specific mission: provide CPR and First Aid training to nearly 50 educators and house parents who care for children across the VOH campus.

Last January, we certified 33 HCH staff members in American Heart Association Basic Life Support. This year, we want to take the next step—not just provide training, but leave the equipment in Ghana so the training can continue long after we return home.

💲 $1,000 equips a complete CPR training station with:
• 2 adult manikins
• 2 infant manikins
• 2 AED trainers

Our goal is to help create sustainable access to lifesaving CPR, AED, and First Aid education for Village of Hope, as well as the Nursing program at Heritage Christian University in Accra—equipping them to eventually train others.

Great visit today with prospective student Isabelle Burton, all the way from Columbia, TN!! I enjoyed learning about her personal experience and desire to pursue GI nursing!! So thankful for Delta Dental for their generous contribution to our Nursing Skills Lab!! We are thankful for Missy Acosta from Delta Dental for considering us for their "60 Smiles Campaign", and thankful to our Clinical Instructor, Shelby Biggs, for initially making the connection with them. Their gift of a functional headwall has enriched the teaching/learning experience for our Nursing students.

🇵🇪 HELP SEND FHU NURSING STUDENTS TO CUSCO, PERU — January 2–16, 2027

On January 2, 2027, a team of Freed-Hardeman University nursing students will travel to Cusco, Peru for a two-week medical mission through CerviCusco (cervicusco.org), led by Dr. Sarah Pierce. Over two weeks in the Andes, our team will:

• Provide patient care at remote mobile medical clinics in mountain villages
• Rotate through local hospitals, including a pediatric neurology hospital
• Serve at a family clinic and a women's health clinic
• Perform well-child checks at orphanages
• Care for residents at a senior living facility
• Run health screenings in remote villages and schools — vision, blood pressure, glucose, hemoglobin/anemia, cholesterol, and HIV
• Worship, hold VBS, and serve alongside a local congregation in Cusco

We need your help to get there — and to arrive with our hands full. Here is exactly where your donation goes:

1️⃣ STUDENT TRIP COSTS — $3,600 per student, which covers:
• Round-trip airfare to Cusco
• Lodging at the CerviCusco guest house above the medical clinic
• Airport and in-country transportation
• Daily transportation to every clinical site aboard the CerviBus
• CerviCusco program and local fees, orientation, and 24/7 on-site support
• Purified drinking water for the two weeks

2️⃣ CLINICAL & MEDICAL SUPPLIES each student must carry in:
• Exam gloves
• Stethoscopes
• Blood pressure cuffs
• Penlights
• Screening supplies and test strips — glucose, hemoglobin, cholesterol, HIV
• Hand sanitizer
• Over-the-counter medications — ibuprofen, acetaminophen, antihistamines, decongestants, anti-diarrheals

3️⃣ ITEMS TO HAND OUT to the children and families we serve:
• School supplies — backpacks, pencils, notebooks, books
• Coloring books, crayons, and colored pencils
• Shoes — any size, new
• Socks and underwear — all sizes
• Diapers — all sizes
• Small toys
• Individually wrapped candy
