In continuing CCNA, I’m thinking about going down a CCIE route. Going to be very long, but should be worth it?

Thinking about doing a Cisco ISE video series; installation, patches, upgrades, tacacs and radius configs, dot1x and mab!

I hope I get some good views for that!

Travel router videos on YouTube! I was definitely all over the place on the TP-Link video, need to slow down and think about what I’m doing before I do it…

Cheap and does what is does or expensive and does so much more, what do you think?

When a was a teacher I brought home $125 per class I taught. $6500 a year per class.

The dean of my program made $140,000, the CEO made millions.

I would’ve needed to teach 22 classes each week to make as much as the dean.

I quit teaching because it became really political, was a measly $19,500 worth it? (I taught 3 classes a week). For the students I’d say yes, being able to make a difference in their lives meant the world, but $19,500 was not enough to deal with the setup, presenting, grading papers and homework, dealing with angry vindictive administration.

With nTRaaS I get to teach again, but now I’m making no money for it. So it’s becoming really difficult to continue. Those I have talked to and made a difference is the only thing keeping me going.

So thank you to anyone who has joined in!

Some people are angry and mean, just open a business! All those that tell you to be your own boss … they never tell you the negative side to business.

I’m just a regular guy, not a big business or corporation, and it’s amazing how many like what I do but really odd how people can be so mad about an ad on a FREE social media platform.

When you peak behind the curtain, you’ll find a lot of anger in the world. Let it go, forget and forgive. Don’t be mean for no reason.

Peace be with you all!

Firewalla has dual ISP capabilities, you can use them as failover or for multipathing.

I love that I have the ability to use my public facing network to do my videos and switch back over to my private network.

Don’t forget to check if you have any open ports! Basically firewalla will check to see if there are any openings in your internet connection. Not really sure why you would but hey visibility is ALWAYS a good thing!

Passwords: always make sure your password is as long as possible and in a way that can’t be easily guessed: paraphrases.

An example of a pass phrase with a salt (technical term): IamanelectricalengineerlivinginHawaii!!??..

Also make sure it doesn’t include easily known information: I’m not an electrical engineer and I don’t live in Hawaii…makes it very difficult to brute force or guess.

If a security breach happens and your username and password is stolen, well you can’t really help that but taking alternate authentication mechanisms can assist as well. ProTIP: don’t use email as a recovery or pin verification unless you’ve made sure the passwords aren’t the same.
If they have your login to your bank and they have access to your email, well they can potentially verify themselves and empty your bank account.

Also, and I know this will ruffle some feathers: don’t simply trust your family, you may come to regret it.

When it comes to protecting your accounts: don’t reuse passwords! If your login information: username and password is the same across multiple sites then you’ve just made it very easy for cyber criminals to gain access to your systems and data.

No matter how legitimate a website may look, if you clicked a linked to get there: you could be part of a phishing attempt.

Don’t let your guard down because you feel safe.

I NEVER click on links I’ve received through email unless I KNOW that email is legitimate through other means. If you get a message from bestbuy.com: open a web browser, type in the address and log in to your account to see if you actually received that message.

Google translate? Well apparently there are some pretty spot on duplicates of that site meant to do one thing: steal your login information.

The reason why the government is pushing ZERO-TRUST is because there is no way to be entirely certain about a service or person to intrinsically trust them.
