🍎📚 Learning Is Sweet in 3rd Grade!

Our third graders had a fun-filled week of hands-on learning last week! In math, students explored multiplication using arrays and equal groups with Cheez-Its. In reading, they celebrated all things apples by exploring tall tales, practicing reading comprehension with an apple-themed recipe, and making connections between reading and real-life activities.

They wrapped up their apple-themed fun with a special treat—delicious Apple Nachos! 🍎😋

Learning is always sweeter when we can read, explore, create, and enjoy a little treat along the way! ❤️📚

Our Child Nutrition Program will celebrate National Farm to School Month on October 14th. Everyone is invited to wear a farm-inspired outfit to honor the farmers who grow our food.

🌾 Dress Like a Farmer Day! 🚜
Schools across Alabama are invited to participate in Dress Like a Farmer Day this October! Encourage students and staff to put on their best farm-inspired outfits—flannel shirts, boots, denim, hats, suspenders, and more—and help us celebrate the hardworking farmers who grow the food we enjoy every day.

🌱 Meet a Farmer! Based on farmer availability, we would also love to have local Alabama farmers pop into participating schools to meet students, share about their farms, and talk about where their food comes from. This is a great opportunity for students to make a real-life connection to Alabama agriculture and the people who help feed our communities.

📸 Don't forget to take photos and share your school's participation! Selected photos will be highlighted in the AL Farm to School Newsletter and on our page during the week of October 19th.

Let's show our appreciation for Alabama farmers and bring a little farm spirit to school! 🌾👩🏾‍🌾🚜
