🥡 🔥 General Tso’s was bringing BIG flavor to lunch at Henagar Junior High School today. 😋 🍚 Students enjoyed this tasty favorite served over fried rice with colorful veggies and fresh sides to round out the tray. 🥦 🥗 ✨ Sweet, savory, and seriously delicious. 🙌 ❤️ This lunch definitely understood the assignment. 😎 🍽️

What is Food City School Bucks?
For 2026-2027 school year, Food City will donate $800,000 in cash through the Food City School Bucks program. The School Bucks your school earns will help
grow their share of the $800,000 total. It’s like a pie - the size of your school’s slice will depend on how many they have received. Schools should encourage their supporters to register their ValuCard for the Food City
School Bucks program. The program will run from July 1, 2026 thru April 30, 2027.

The 25-26 yearbooks have arrived, and we have a few extra copies available for $50 each. If you missed your chance to order one, now’s your opportunity to grab a copy and keep all those great memories from the school year.

We also have extra of the 24-25 yearbook for $25.00, the 23-24 yearbook for $10.00, and the 22-23 yearbook for $10.00.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the hard work of our students and teachers! Based on ACAP scores from Spring 2026, our school ranked:

🥇 #1 in Math Proficiency in DeKalb County!
🥈 #2 in ELA Proficiency in DeKalb County!

These results reflect the dedication of our teachers and students. Our teachers continue to challenge students and provide meaningful instruction, and our students are rising to the challenge!

We are so proud of the growth and success happening in our classrooms and look forward to what the future holds. Congratulations to our students and staff on this outstanding achievement! 📚✏️

It was a great first day at HJH! 🧡🖤

Car rider parents-If picking up a student in K-3, please line up on the side closest to the school. If picking up a 4th-8th grader, please line up on the side closest to the gym. Car rider passes will be sent home next week. While I learn your names and vehicles, I ask that you display them in your windshield during pick up. It should help things run a little smoother. Thanks for your patience!

We had a great turnout last night for Open House! Our teachers and staff worked hard to make sure our campus and classrooms were ready to welcome students and families, and their efforts definitely paid off. A huge thank you to the Henagar Athletic Club and the Henagar Junior High PTO for setting up tables in the gym lobby, and thank you to all of the parents and guardians who came out to support our school. We appreciate your partnership!

If you weren't able to attend, here are a few important reminders that were shared:

Attendance:

✔️Regular attendance is essential for student success.
✔️Please submit written excuses within three days of your child's absence.
✔️Communication between home and school is key!

Dress Code:

✔️Shorts and skirts should be approximately fingertip length.
✔️No midriff-baring clothing or exposed undergarments.
✔️Hats are not permitted inside the building.
✔️Please save pajamas and blankets for home.

Chromebooks:

✔️A Chromebook Agreement will be sent home.
✔️Please encourage your child to take good care of their school-issued device.
✔️Families will be charged for damages that are determined to be non-accidental.

Transportation:

✔️Sending a written note to your child's teacher is the best way to notify us of transportation changes.
✔️No transportation changes can be made after 1:00 p.m.
✔️When possible, please have students exit the vehicle on the driver’s side during morning drop off.
✔️Parents are welcome to walk students to their classrooms on the first day of school.
✔️Beginning the following day, students will walk to their classrooms independently.
