Hempstead ISD Transportation Department has selected Kendra Wilson as the 2026 Hempstead ISD Bus Driver of the Year.

School bus drivers have an important role in education. Bus drivers safely transport our students to and from school daily. They are the first school personnel that students see in the morning and the last they see in the afternoon. They help set the tone for students' daily experiences.

Are your student(s) returning for the 2026-2027 School Year?

The Hempstead ISD Annual Update opens June 1. Families have until Monday, July 20, to complete registration. Parents/Guardians of Returning Students must complete the process for students to be scheduled into classes.

Steps to Complete:

- Login to the Parent Portal using your existing credentials
- Click Resume Registration on the pop-upwindow OR click the Registration button on the student card.
- Start registration and continue through each step.
- Click Finish and Submit to District.

Important: If your students will NOT be returning, please notify the campus registrar.

Hempstead ISD Pre-Kindergarten Program is where Bobcats Start Early!

Hempstead Early Childhood Center Pre-K Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year is open. This summer, families can participate in several enrollment dates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hempstead Early Childhood Center, 524 Austin. St. No appointment needed.

Dates:
- June 1
- June 3
- June 9
- July 20

Enrollment is open to all new Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 students who qualify. A tuition-based option is also available for $250 per month for September through May. During enrollment, families will complete the online registration and receive the school supply list and other resources to prepare them for the beginning of school.

SUMMER UPDATE: Please Excuse Our Dust!

Due to ongoing bond construction projects across the district, the main office areas at both Hempstead High School and Hempstead Middle School will be temporarily relocated this summer. Please note that construction timelines are weather-dependent, and dates may change due to inclement weather.

Beginning Wednesday, May 27, both HMS and HHS campuses will be closed to the public in their current locations. Please review the temporary office information below.

Hempstead High School
- The HHS main building will be closed beginning May 27.
- HHS staff are expected to return to the main building on Monday, June 8, pending construction progress and weather conditions.
- During this time, HHS office staff will be temporarily housed in the portable buildings labeled B and C, located to the left of the HHS student parking lot.

Parking & Access
Visitors should park in the HHS student parking lot to access the temporary HHS offices. The student parking lot entrance is located at Donoho Street and Bobcat Circle.

Hempstead Middle School
- HMS offices will close beginning May 27 and are expected to remain relocated through August 2026.
- HMS office staff will be temporarily housed in the DAEP portable buildings labeled I and J.

Parking & Access
To access the HMS temporary offices, turn right at Donoho Street and 7th Street onto Bobcat Circle. Visitors may park along the street near the DAEP portables.
