Mark your calendars for Hempstead Homecoming 2026 on Saturday, October 17, 2026. This year's celebration, themed "Carnival: A Celebration of Culture, Rhythm & Pride," will bring together students, families, alumni, staff, and community members for a day of school spirit and community pride.

The festivities will kick off with a 10:00 a.m. parade, followed by a 12:00 p.m. showcase and a 2:00 p.m. homecoming game.

On August 17, 2026, the Hempstead Union Free School District conducted a Special Trustee Election at Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School.

The official election results are as follows:

Gwendolyn Jackson: 255 votes
Eugenia Girtman: 161 votes
Victor Pratt: 48 votes
Caprice Rines: 17 votes

Based on the certified tally, Gwendolyn Jackson received the highest number of votes and has been elected Trustee of the Hempstead Union Free School District Board of Education.

The District thanks all residents who participated in the election and exercised their right to vote. Community engagement plays a vital role in supporting the continued success of Hempstead Public Schools.

The Hempstead Union Free School District announces a Special Election for the Board of Education to fill one (1) Board of Education seat for a three-year term beginning August 17, 2026 and ending June 30, 2029.

Time: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Location: ABGS Middle School, 70 Greenwich Street, Hempstead, NY

Qualified voters are encouraged to participate in this important election. Information regarding absentee ballots, early mail ballots, military voting, voter accessibility, and other election procedures is available in the official Notice of Special Election.
