When Mario Alain of Los Cupidos Band took the stage at Academy Day with Marc Anthony's "Vivir Mi Vida," the Coliseum started dancing. Scholars and staff from Hempstead, Uniondale and Wyandanch, moving together as Academy Difference Makers.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the cultures that make our Academy family who we are, because every Difference Maker brings something of their own. ¡Gracias, Mario!

I am an Academy Difference Maker, and so is everyone on this stage.

At Academy Day, the Academy Mass Choir brought staff from across our departments together with scholars from our Hempstead, Uniondale and Wyandanch schools, singing as one voice.

Ask your scholar if they know someone in the choir, and tag them below.

I am an Academy Difference Maker.

Scholars and staff from Hempstead, Uniondale, and Wyandanch — the same words, on the same morning. That was Academy Day at Nassau Coliseum today.

Our band led more than 4,000 scholars into that building. Our Academy Mass Choir — scholars and staff on the same stage — filled it. And Grammy-nominated Broadway star Avery Wilson performed for all of them.

On September 11, we honored the veterans, service members, and firefighters in our Academy family.

Ask your scholar what it felt like.
