Congratulations to Kurt Sensenbrenner, a recent graduate of our MFA program in Documentary Studies and Production, whose marvelous thesis film, "De la Misa a la Montaña : From Mass to the Mountain,” has been selected as a semifinalist in the Student Academy Awards competition!

Out of 1,686 films submitted in all categories, only 84 (roughly 5%) were selected as semifinalists.

There is another round of judging next week, and on August 7th the Academy will announce the finalists.

If Kurt’s film is selected as a finalist, he will go to Los Angeles where the Academy will announce the gold, silver, and bronze medalists in each category on September 18th.

Congratulations to Kurt, and to his highly supportive thesis committee: Carlo Gennarelli, Christine Noschese, and George Nicholas. Great work!!!
