Learning, Coding & Creating with Micro:bit!

Last Friday, we welcomed educators to the Lockwood STEM Center for a High Tech Talent Initiative (HTTI) workshop focused on exploring the exciting world of micro:bits!

Teachers got hands-on with micro:bit, experimented with sensors, and explored how coding can bring STEM learning to life. Through hands-on exploration, they discovered new ways to engage students in problem-solving, creativity, and computational thinking.

The best part? These educators are taking new ideas, skills, and inspiration back to their classrooms to create meaningful STEM experiences for their students!

At Lockwood STEM Center, we believe that when we empower teachers, we empower students.

Chemistry came to life at the Lockwood STEM Center!

Our 5th graders became chemical reaction detectives as they investigated baking soda and vinegar, measured and analyzed changes in mass, and explored how Poly A and Poly B react to create polyurethane foam through our hands-on Foam Gnome challenge! Chemistry is a whole lot more fun when you get to see and create the reactions yourself!

🚀 What a BLAST! 🚀 Rocket Day at the Lockwood STEM Center was a huge success! Students and families explored, built, launched, and learned together through an afternoon full of hands-on rocketry and STEM fun. A huge THANK YOU to SaginawSTEM for partnering with us and helping make this event possible! We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and can’t wait for our next STEM adventure!
