🌸 A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US & WHY WE OPENED LITTLE REASONS CHILD CARE 🌸

Behind Little Reasons Child Care are two generations who share a passion for working with children ❤️

My mom, Gloria Huerta, first opened her family child care in 2000. When our family moved to Hemet in 2006, she closed her program and continued doing what she loved—working with young children. She spent the next several years as a preschool teacher before retiring in 2024.

I’m a former elementary school counselor, and throughout my career I saw firsthand how important those early years are in a child's development🧸🌱

In 2024, we decided to bring our experience together and reopen as Little Reasons Child Care.

Why?

Because we saw a need in our community for quality child care where young children could receive nurturing, individualized attention in a warm, home-like environment.

Today, we’re proud to combine my mom’s decades of experience in early childhood education with my background in education and counseling to create a place where children can play, learn, build confidence, and grow ❤️

For us, this isn't simply a business.

It's something we've been passionate about for many years, and we're grateful that we get to do it together. 🏡💕

As parents, it can feel like keeping our little ones entertained means constantly spending money, but some of the best childhood memories can come from the simplest activities ❤️

Here are a few budget-friendly ideas to try with your child:

🌳 Go on a nature walk — Let your child collect leaves, look for bugs, or search for different colors in nature.

🎨 Have a DIY art day — Use cardboard boxes, paper bags, recycled containers, or things you already have at home to create something together.

📚 Library adventure — Many libraries offer free storytimes, crafts, and children’s activities!

💦 Backyard water play — A bowl, cups, spoons, and a little water can turn into hours of sensory play.

🧺 Have a picnic — You don’t have to go anywhere fancy. Pack snacks and have a picnic in your backyard or at a local park.

🎵 Dance party at home — Put on your child’s favorite songs and dance together!

🧩 Create a “busy basket” — Fill a basket with safe household items your child can explore, sort, stack, or pretend with.

Big Feelings Need Big Support 💗

Have you ever wondered why your preschooler can go from completely happy to having a meltdown over something that seems so small? 😩

A missing snack. The wrong cup. Putting on shoes. Leaving the playground.

To us, it may seem like a little thing, but to a preschooler, that feeling can be HUGE.

🧠 Preschoolers are still developing the ability to:
• Manage strong emotions
• Use words when they're frustrated
• Wait and be patient
• Handle disappointment
• Calm themselves down

Instead of immediately saying, “Stop crying” or “You're okay,” try helping them name what they're feeling:

💬 “You're really upset because we have to leave the park.”

Then set the boundary:

💬 “It's okay to be mad. It's not okay to hit.”

And finally, help them regulate:

🤗 “I'm right here. Let's take some deep breaths together.”

✨ Remember: You don't have to stop every big emotion. Your job is to help your child learn how to move through it.

The first few years of life are an incredible time for language development. Infants and toddlers learn best through everyday interactions, play, and meaningful conversations with the caring adults around them.

Here are a few simple ways to encourage language development at home:

📚 Read together every day. Even a few minutes of reading helps build vocabulary, listening skills, and a love for books.

🎵 Sing songs and nursery rhymes. Repetition, rhythm, and music help children recognize sounds, words, and patterns in language.

💬 Talk throughout the day. Describe what you're doing, ask simple questions, and encourage your child to respond with sounds, words, or gestures.

👂 Listen and respond. When children babble, point, or use words, respond with enthusiasm. These interactions teach them that communication is meaningful.

🧩 Play together. Pretend play, puzzles, building blocks, and sensory activities naturally encourage children to communicate, ask questions, and learn new words.

❤️ Be patient and encouraging. Every child develops at their own pace. Celebrate all attempts to communicate, whether through babbling, gestures, single words, or short sentences.

🌟 Celebrate successes. Praise your child's efforts, even if they don't use the potty every time. Positive reinforcement builds confidence.

🌟 Dress for success. Choose clothing that's easy for little hands to pull up and down.

🌟 Stay patient. Accidents are a normal part of the learning process. Respond with reassurance and encouragement instead of frustration.

🌟 Work together. Consistency between home and child care helps children feel secure and supports successful potty training.
