Today we celebrate the International Day of Play — because play is not “extra” in childhood. Play is how children learn, grow, connect, create, problem-solve, and make sense of the world around them.
In a truly developmentally appropriate environment, play is valued as essential work of childhood. Through play, children build language, confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, creativity, and strong social skills. They move their bodies, strengthen their brains, and learn to navigate relationships and challenges naturally.
