Blue Mountain District Leadership Camp 2026

Our Helix FFA Officer team got to go to camp overnight at Camp Elkanah for some time spent with the Blue Mountain district chapter officers, District Officers and Oregon State Officers! We had lots of fun learning in officer workshops, competing in opening/closing ceremonies, the knowledge bowl, and spending the night at camp.

Reminder about our yard sale today! Cash donations only. There are also home volleyball games and the Juniper Canyon Flower Farm Fall Festival! We will be open from 9-1.

We will be holding a Yard Sale for the leftover Woodshop tools/equipment on Saturday, October 3rd from 9am-1pm. Cash donations only, all proceeds will go to the Helix Ag Program to purchase classroom equipment. Lots of various items so come take a look! Stop by on your way to the Juniper Canyon Flower Farm Fall Festival 🎃🌸🍁

Helix FFA will have hamburger meals for today’s homecoming football game!

$10 for a burger, chips, cookie, and soda
$5 for just the burger

We will also have MOST of the normal Grizzly Den options as well over at the field in Athena. Come support lots of Grizzly activities today!!

District Soils 2026

Helix FFA hosted the Blue Mountain District Soil Judging contest this week. We had 10 members competing in the contest as well.

A huge thank you to the Reeder Family for being the host site, Dr. Wysocki for helping run the contest, the Helix Alumni & Supporters for prepping lunch, and countless community members for scoring, donating money, and donating time. We are so thankful!

This Tuesday, September 29, Helix FFA is hosting the 2026 Blue Mountain District Soil Judging contest. With over 200 students from 13 schools, the competition is being held between Reeder’s (Sand Hollow Farms) and Rosselle’s Farm. The contest consists of three soil pits that students judge based on the following criteria:
1 Be able to accurately identify soil characteristics
2 Understand how soil plays a role in land use and management
3 Understand how soil plays a role in the environment
4 Develop analytical skills in the comparison of different soil samples
5 Develop reasoning skills for effective and accurate evaluation

Students get the opportunity to interact and be guided by industry professionals from NRCS, OSU Research Station, Pacific Ag, and other local entities. We are excited to host this contest!

Greenhand Conference 2026

8th Grade and Freshman ag students got to learn all about FFA and the opportunities they have within the organization! They got to learn the basics of different CDEs like soils, floriculture, milk quality, crops, and livestock judging. Students were introduced to the FFA Creed, what Supervised Agriculture Experiences (SAEs) are, and got to meet other students from 12 different schools that make up our Blue Mountain FFA District. They learned games and other FFA ‘norms’ to listen for at FFA Events.

We had such a fun time!

Xtreme Bulls Fan Zone 2026

Helix FFA members helped with the set up and tear down of the Fan Zone. We know this is a very small part but we are happy to volunteer to help make Pendleton Round-Up week a success!

Umatilla County Fair 2026

Lily had a great last UCF with her market lamb! She competed for Helix FFA in livestock judging, herdsmanship, record books, market animal, showmanship, and dairy judging. We are so proud of you Lily!! One more show left to wrap up her time showing animals for Helix FFA. She will show at the Pendleton Jr Livestock Show on September 26th.

John and Wyatt had a great time attempting the Calf Dressing Competition as well!
